John Burrell (poet)
John Burrell or John Burel ( fl. 1590) was a Scottish poet sometimes said to have been a goldsmith. In 1596 he dedicated his collection of poems to Ludovic Stewart, 2nd Duke of Lennox. He was the author of a poetical description of the entry of Queen Anne (Anne of Denmark) into Edinburgh in 1590, titled '' The Discription of the Queenis Maiesties most honourable entry into the town of Edinburgh''. According to Burel, performers with wearing black masks or visards and paint represented the " Moirs of the Inds". They had come to salute Scotland's new queen and offer e their "most willing minds" to her service:Into the service of our Queene,Thay offert thair maist willing mynds,Thir ar the Moirs of quhom I mene,Quha dois inhabit in the Ynds;Leving thair land and dwelling place,For to do honour to hir Grace. John Burrell (American Football)
John Buster Burrell (born November 22, 1940) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for the San Francisco 49ers, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Washington Redskins. He played college football at Rice University and was drafted in the seventh round of the 1962 NFL Draft. John Burrell (entomologist)
John Burrell (1762–1825) was an English entomologist and clergyman of the Church of England. The son of another John Burrell, whom he eventually succeeded as Rector of Letheringsett, Norfolk, and the grandson of John Holmes, for thirty years Master of Holt School, Burrell was baptised at Letheringsett on 20 September 1762. He was educated by James Smith at Holt School before being admitted to the lists of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, on 6 July 1779. He matriculated in 1781, graduated BA in 1785, and proceeded to MA in 1791. On 22 May 1785 he was ordained a deacon at Norwich and a few months later, on 18 December, became a priest of the Church of England. John Burrell (theatre Director)
John Percy Burrell (6 May 1910–28 September 1972) was an English theatre director. John Burrell was educated at Shrewsbury School in Shropshire, England and he led a successful theatre career afterwards. He was appointed as a co-director of the Old Vic Theatre in London, England, with Laurence Olivier and Ralph Richardson in 1948. He later moved to the US and worked on Broadway, New York.
