Cheech & Chong's The Corsican Brothers
''Cheech & Chong's The Corsican Brothers'' is an American film released in 1984, the sixth feature-length film starring the comedy duo Cheech and Chong. Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong star as the two twin brothers in a parody of various film adaptations of the 1844 Alexandre Dumas novella, ''The Corsican Brothers''. To date, it is the last live-action film starring the duo, and the only one that does not heavily revolve around the normal elements of stoner comedy (being that there are very few references to marijuana). Instead the film elects to be a straightforward farce of swashbuckler films. Plot Los Guys, a rockabilly band, has developed a racket playing loud music on the streets of France and accepting payment for them to stop playing. While at a nearby restaurant counting the proceeds from their latest "gig," two lead band members meet a gypsy storyteller. She tells them the story of ''The Corsican Brothers''. The story begins with the birth of two superfecund twin brothers ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Boss Film Studios
Boss Film Studios was a prominent American visual effects company, founded by visual effects veteran Richard Edlund after his departure from Industrial Light and Magic, producing visual effects for over thirty films from 1983 to 1997. Before that period Edlund had worked at ILM on films like ''Raiders of the Lost Ark'' (1981) and the original Star Wars trilogy (1977-1983). History Boss Film Studios (originally Boss Film Corporation) initially undertook two projects, '' Ghostbusters (1984)'' and ''2010'', simultaneously. In an effort to set up the new venture quickly, Edlund acquired Douglas Trumbull's Entertainment Effects Group, taking over their Marina Del Rey facility. Competition with ILM Boss Film soon established itself as one of ILM's competitors as it contributied to such projects as '' Die Hard'', '' Poltergeist II'', and '' Big Trouble in Little China''. Edlund and his team chose to compete with ILM technically, continuing EEG's preference for using 65mm film for t ... Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is an American motion picture visual effects company that was founded on May 26, 1975 by George Lucas. It is a division of the film production company Lucasfilm, which Lucas founded, and was created when he began production on the original ''Star Wars'', now the fourth episode of the Skywalker Saga. ILM originated in Van Nuys, California, then later moved to San Rafael in 1978, and since 2005 it has been based at the Letterman Digital Arts Center in the Presidio of San Francisco. In 2012, The Walt Disney Company acquired ILM as part of its purchase of Lucasfilm. History Lucas wanted his 1977 film ''Star Wars'' to include visual effects that had never been seen on film before. After discovering that the in-house effects department at 20th Century Fox was no longer operational, Lucas approached Douglas Trumbull, best known for the effects on '' 2001: A Space Odyssey'' (1968) and '' Silent Running'' (1972). Poltergeist (1982 Film)
''Poltergeist'' is a 1982 American supernatural horror film directed by Tobe Hooper and written by Steven Spielberg, Michael Grais and Mark Victor from a story by Spielberg. It stars JoBeth Williams, Craig T. Nelson and Beatrice Straight, and was produced by Spielberg and Frank Marshall. The film focuses on a suburban family whose home is invaded by malevolent ghosts that abduct their youngest daughter. As Spielberg was contractually unable to direct another film while he made '' E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,'' Hooper was selected based on his work on ''The Texas Chain Saw Massacre'' and ''The Funhouse''. Spielberg conceived ''Poltergeist'' as a horror sequel to his 1977 film ''Close Encounters of the Third Kind'' titled ''Night Skies''; however, Hooper was less interested in the sci-fi elements and suggested they collaborate on a ghost story. Accounts differ as to the level of Spielberg's involvement, but it is clear that he was frequently on set during filming and exerted signi ...
