John Barton (footballer, Born 1953)
John S. Barton (born 24 October 1953) is an English former professional footballer. He played professionally, as a full-back, for Everton and Derby County before moving into non-league football and management. Barton began his career with Stourbridge, moving to Worcester City in 1976. He helped Worcester to the Southern League First Division North title in 1976–77, and began to attract interest from a number of higher-level clubs. His final game for Worcester came in 1979 in their FA Cup win against Plymouth Argyle, Barton leaving the following week to join First Division Everton for a then record non-league fee of £25,000. In 1983 Barton joined Derby County where he spent two years before joining Kidderminster Harriers, winning the FA Trophy in 1987. He later became assistant manager at Kidderminster with Graham Allner and worked in a similar role at Nuneaton Borough before becoming Nuneaton manager. FA Trophy
The Football Association Challenge Trophy, commonly known as the FA Trophy, is a men's football knockout cup competition run by and named after the English Football Association and competed for primarily by semi-professional teams. The competition was instigated in 1969 to cater to those non-league clubs that paid their players and were therefore not eligible to enter the FA Amateur Cup. Eligibility rules have changed over time, but from 2008 onwards the competition has been open to clubs playing in Steps 1–4 of the National League System, equivalent to tiers 5–8 of the overall English football league system. This covers the National League, the Southern League, Isthmian League, and Northern Premier League. Graham Allner
Graham Allner (born 7 September 1949) is an English former football player and manager. He was manager of Kidderminster Harriers from 1983 until 1998, winning the Football League Trophy in 1987 and the Conference Premier championship in 1994. Early life Allner was born in Birmingham, England. Playing career Allner started his playing career as a schoolboy at Birmingham City before signing amateur forms at Walsall playing reserve football. After being released he drifted into non-league football, firstly at Paget Rangers, where he won the Midland Combination under the guidance of manager Rhys Davies. Allner had a trial with Aston Villa during the 1970–71 season. He then rejoined Davies at Alvechurch, winning another Midland Combination title in 1971–72. During that season Allner played in all 6 FA Cup games against Oxford City.
