John Aldred (sound Engineer)
John Brian Aldred (August 1921 – 15 December 2020) was an English sound engineer. He was nominated for two Academy Awards in the category Sound Recording. He worked on 57 different films and TV shows from 1942 to 1973. He retired in 1986. Aldred died in Worthing, West Sussex in December 2020 at the age of 99. John Alured
John Alured (1607–1651) was an army officer who fought for the parliamentary cause in the English Civil War and was one of the regicides of King Charles I in 1649.Scott, ODNB He was born in Kingston upon Hull. He inherited the family estate in 1628 and married Mary Darley (second cousin) in 1631. Alured was the MP for Hedon in both the Short and Long Parliaments. He spent most of the First Civil War as a colonel in Lord Fairfax's northern parliamentarian army, and is known to have fought at Adwalton Moor in 1643 and possibly at Marston Moor in 1644. He was a member of Philip Nye's Hull congregation. In February 1645 he took up a new command in the New Model Army. In 1649, appointed to the High Court of Justice at the trial of King Charles, he was one of the signatories of the King's death warrant. Captain John William Aldred (26 August 1884 – 7 June 1967) was an English World War I flying ace credited with eight aerial victories. He began military service in World War I as an infantryman and transferred to flight duty as an observer. After scoring two aerial victories and winning the Military Cross, he qualified as a fighter pilot, scored six more triumphs, and earned a Bar to his MC in lieu of a second award. Kingston upon Hull, often simply referred to as Hull, was a parliamentary constituency in Yorkshire, electing two members of parliament to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, from 1305 until 1885. Its MPs included the anti-slavery campaigner, William Wilberforce, and the poet Andrew Marvell. History Kingston upon Hull was a borough constituency in the town (later city) of Hull. Until the Great Reform Act of 1832, it consisted only of the parish of St Mary's, Hull and part of Holy Trinity, Hull, entirely to the west of the River Hull. This excluded parts of the urban area which had not been originally part of the town, but some of these – the rest of Holy Trinity parish, Sculcoates, Drypool, Garrisonside and part of Sutton-on-Hull – were brought into the constituency by boundary changes in 1832.
