Johann Jakob Dorner The Elder
Johann Jakob Dorner the Elder (1741–1813), who was born at Ehrenstetten, near Freiburg in Breisgau, was a painter of historical and genre subjects. He was at first a pupil of Rösch at Freiburg and of Ignaz Bauer at Augsburg. He afterwards visited Italy, the Netherlands, and Paris. He was a professor and director of the Gallery at Munich in 1770, and died in that city in 1813. In the Darmstadt Gallery is a picture of ''Two Soldiers and a Maiden'' by him; and in the Pinakothek at Munich, a ''Linen Draper'', which is a portrait of his wife, dated 1775. Johann Jakob Dorner The Younger
Johann Jakob Dorner the Younger (1775–1852) was a Bavarian landscape painter. The son of Johann Jakob Dorner the Elder, he was born in Munich and was instructed in art by his father and by Mannlich. Afterwards he studied the works of Claude Lorrain and Karel Du Jardin. He travelled by himself through the picturesque regions of Bavaria, Switzerland, and France. His works are distinguished for spirited composition and taste in their execution. In 1803 he became Restorer, and in 1808 Inspector of the Royal Gallery at Munich, and was subsequently elected a member of the Academies of Hanau, Vienna, Berlin, and Munich. He died in Munich. Amalia Von Schattenhofer
Amalia von Schattenhofer, born Amalia Schweinhammer-Baader (1763–1840) was a German art collector and amateur painter. Born in Erding to a physician, Georg Schewinhammer, who died when she was eight, Amalie was adopted by her stepfather, Ferdinand Maria Baader, whom her mother soon married, and whose name she took. She was a pupil of Johann Jakob Dorner the Elder, who directed the art gallery in Munich, and as part of her training she copied the Dutch and Italian paintings in the collection. In 1790, with the support of Johann Andreas Stein, she became the second honorary female member of the Augsburger Kunstakademie. Her husband was the Kanzler des Münchner Damenstiftes St. Anna. Von Schattenhofer produced a number of portraits in colored chalks and in pastel. These were engraved, as were several copies after the work of Georg Friedrich Schmidt; all were signed with the monogram "AB". Ehrenkirchen is a municipality in the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. History The villages of Ehrenstetten, Kirchhofen, Norsingen, Offnadingen, and Scherzingen were properties of Saint Blaise Abbey, Black Forest until 1806, when they were mediatized to the Grand Duchy of Baden. They were assigned to the district of Staufen im Breisgau until 1936, when they were reassigned to the district of Freiburg im Breisgau. As part of the , they were assigned to the new district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald. Over 1973 and 1974, the five villages merged into a single municipality, Ehrenkirchen, whose name was a combination of the largest towns, Ehrenstetten and Kirchhofen.
