Joginder Singh (soldier)
Subedar Joginder Singh Sahnan, PVC (26 September 1921 – 23 October 1962), was an Indian Army soldier who posthumously received India's highest military gallantry award, the Param Vir Chakra. Singh joined the British Indian Army in 1936 and served in the 1st battalion of the Sikh Regiment. During the 1962 Sino-Indian War, he was commanding a platoon at the Bum La Pass in the North-East Frontier Agency. Though heavily outnumbered, he led his troops against a Chinese assault and defended his post until he was wounded and captured. Singh died from his injuries while in Chinese custody. He single-handedly killed more than 50 Chinese soldiers, and became a war hero within the Indian Armed forces. ''Subedar Joginder Singh'' is a 2018 Indian Punjabi-language biographical war film based on the life of Joginder Singh, an Indian soldier who was killed in the 1962 Sino-Indian War and posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra. It is produced by Saga Music and is set to release by 6 April 2018. The film stars Gippy Grewal and Aditi Sharma and is directed by Simerjit Singh who belongs to the same region of Moga where Joginder Singh was born. This movie was a high budget film. The film is authentic to that in the era of 1962. The movie was shot in Suratgarh or Rajasthan which is nearly 100 km from the Indo-Pakistan border, to give a look of the pre-independence village of Punjab. Major Sardar Joginder Singh Baidwan (7 July 1904 – 1940) was an Indian athlete. Born in Manakmajra in Ambala District, he was one of the greatest sportsmen that Patiala produced. He was educated at Aitchison's College "Chief's" Lahore and was married to the sister of Colonel Sardar Bahadur Joginder Singh Mann of Montgomery District. He was introduced to the Maharaja of Patiala by his friend HH Raja Joginder Sen of Mandi and entered State service as ADC to HH Maharajadhiraj Bhupinder Singh. Later he became Commandant of the Rajindra Lancers in the Patiala State Forces, and was sometime Military Secretary to HH Maharajadhiraj Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. Rao Joginder Singh whose name was recorded incorrectly as Joginder Singh Rao throughout his career (16 October 1938 – 3 October 1994) was an Indian cricketer: a right-arm medium pace bowler who played only five first-class games, all for Services in the 1963–64 Ranji Trophy, but who is notable for having not only taken a hat-trick on debut, but for following that up with two more in the ''same innings'' of his second match, one of only two men to have achieved this latter feat (the other being Albert Trott) and the ''only'' man to have taken three in his first two games.
