Joe Sacco (Comiczeichner)
Joe Sacco (; born October 2, 1960) is a Maltese-American cartoonist and journalist. He is best known for his comics journalism, in particular in the books ''Palestine'' (1996) and ''Footnotes in Gaza'' (2009), on Israeli–Palestinian relations; and ''Safe Area Goražde'' (2000) and '' The Fixer'' (2003) on the Bosnian War. Kirkop
Kirkop ( mt, Ħal Kirkop) is a village in the Southern Region of Malta. It is found near the Malta International Airport, and has been inhabited since pre-history. The parish church is dedicated to Saint Leonard. The football team of the village is the Kirkop United Football Club. Etymology and population The original name of the village was Casal Prokopju, and is retrieved from the registers of the Maltese militia that existed prior to the rule of the Order of St. John. Through generations, the local population corrupted the original name and was changed to ''Kirkop''. ''Palestine'' is a non-fiction graphic novel written and drawn by Joe Sacco about his experiences in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in December 1991 and January 1992. Sacco's portrayal of the situation emphasizes the history and plight of the Palestinian people, as a group and as individuals. Publication history The complete graphic novel, published in 2001 by Fantagraphics Books, collects nine issues of Sacco's ''Palestine'' comic book, published by Fantagraphics from 1993 to 1995; the single volume edition includes an introduction by Edward Said. Romance comics is a comics genre depicting strong and close romantic love and its attendant complications such as jealousy, marriage, divorce, betrayal, and heartache. The term is generally associated with an American comic books genre published through the first three decades of the Cold War (1947–1977). Romance comics of the period typically featured dramatic scripts about the love lives of older high school teens and young adults, with accompanying artwork depicting an urban or rural America contemporaneous with publication. The National Notary Association (NNA) is an American organization at 9350 De Soto Avenue, Chatsworth, California, which provides education to and about notaries public. It is similar to the American Society of Notaries. History Originally the California Notary Association, it was established in 1957 by Raymond C.
