Joe Flynn (American Actor)
Joseph Anthony Flynn III (November 8, 1924 – July 19, 1974) was an American character actor. He was best known for his role as Captain Wallace Binghamton in the 1960s ABC television situation comedy ''McHale's Navy''. He was also a frequent guest star on 1960s TV shows, such as '' Batman'', and appeared in several Walt Disney film comedies. Early years Flynn was born in Youngstown, Ohio to a physician. He graduated from Rayen High School in Youngstown and attended Northwestern University. During World War II, he served in the Army Special Services Branch entertaining the troops before moving west in 1946 to pursue acting and complete his education. He majored in political science at the University of Southern California. Early career Flynn had an interest in theater before leaving northeastern Ohio. ''McHale's Navy'' is an American sitcom starring Ernest Borgnine that aired 138 half-hour episodes over four seasons, from October 11, 1962, to April 12, 1966, on the ABC television network. Canfield is a city in central Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,699 as of the 2020 census. A suburb about southwest of Youngstown, the city lies at the intersection of U.S. Routes 62 and 224 and is part of the Youngstown–Warren metropolitan area.
