Joe Bennett (1889 - August 31, 1967) was an American vaudeville eccentric dancer. Harland Dixon described him as " avinglegs of iron ... He only had a few routines but they were gifts from heaven - the greatest comedy dancer I ever saw." Biography He was born in 1889 in Charleston, South Carolina. He started his dancing career with the William S. West Minstrels. He debuted in vaudeville in 1917 at the Colonial Theatre in an act with Edward Richards. The two were said to have "walked away with the entire show". The two were headliners at the Palace Theatre within the next year. Joseph Johnston Bennett Jr. (April 9, 1901 – October 23, 1975) was an American football and basketball player for the Georgia Bulldogs of the University of Georgia. Bennett was captain of the 1923 team, and considered one of the best kick-blockers in the south. "Prior to the 1960s, Bennett is likely Georgia's most outstanding tackle." After university, he became an executive with Coca-Cola in Atlanta and Los Angeles. Bennett was inducted into the State of Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1984. The Sparkletones (sometimes credited as Joe Bennett & the Sparkletones) were an American rock and roll/rockabilly group from Spartanburg, South Carolina, United States. History The Sparkletones formed in 1956 at Cowpens High School in Spartanburg when the group's members were between the ages of 13 and 16. In January 1957, Bob Cox, a talent scout for CBS, held auditions at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium; The Sparkletones took first prize at the event. Convinced they would be a success, Cox quit CBS to manage the group and flew them out to New York City to sign with ABC-Paramount. At their first recording session they recorded the 12-bar blues " Black Slacks". Benedito José Nascimento (born February 3, 1968), better known as Joe Bennett, is a Brazilian comic book artist. Career Joe Bennett was born in Belém. In the 1990s he used to publish horror comics for two major Brazilian horror comics magazines: Calafrio and Mestres do Terror. His first major work in comics was for Marvel Comics in 1994. Julian "Joe" Bennett (born 20 April 1957) is a writer and columnist living in Lyttelton, New Zealand. Born in England, Bennett emigrated to New Zealand when he was 29. Before his writing career, he worked as an English teacher at Christ's College in Christchurch. During this time, Bennett wrote the words to the musical "Tramps", which was presented as a co-production between Christ's College and St Margaret's College in 1994, and garnered a review in ''The Press''. Joseph Bennett (born 28 March 1990) is an English professional footballer who last played as a defender for Wigan Athletic. He is currently a free agent. Born in Rochdale, Bennett signed his first professional contract with Middlesbrough prior to the 2008–09 season and made his professional debut in May 2009 in the club's final game of the season. He went on to make more than 90 appearances in all competitions for Middlesbrough before joining Aston Villa on 29 August 2012 for an undisclosed fee. After one season as a regular in the first team, he struggled to establish himself in the side and, after loan spells with Brighton & Hove Albion, AFC Bournemouth and Sheffield Wednesday, he was sold to Cardiff City in 2016. With Cardiff, he gained promotion to the Premier League after finishing as runners-up in the Championship during the 2017–18 season.
