Jiří Pernes
Jiří Pernes (born 4 July 1948 in Svitavy) is a Czech historian. From 1984 to 1990, he was the director of the Historical Museum in Slavkov u Brna (Austerlitz), and from 1990 to 1992, he was director of the Moravské zemské muzeum in Brno. In 2011, he directed the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes. Jiří Pernes held lectures at Masaryk University in Brno and at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. He now works in the Institute for Contemporary History at the Czech Academy of Science in Brno. He wrote many books and papers about Moravian, Czech and Czechoslovak history in the 19th and 20th centuries. Radio Prague International ( cs, Český rozhlas 7 – Radio Praha) is the official international broadcasting station of the Czech Republic. Broadcasting first began on August 31, 1936 near the spa town of Poděbrady. Radio Prague broadcasts in six languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Czech and Russian. It broadcasts programmes about the Czech Republic on satellite and on the Internet. Emanuel Moravec
Emanuel Moravec (; 17 April 1893 – 5 May 1945) was a Czech army officer and writer who served as the collaborationist Minister of Education of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia between 1942 and 1945. He was also chair of the Board of Trustees for the Education of Youth, a fascist youth organisation in the protectorate. In World War I, Moravec served in the Austro-Hungarian Army, but following capture by the Russians he changed sides to join Russian-backed Serbian forces and then the Czechoslovak Legion, which went on to fight on the side of the White Army in the Russian Civil War. During the interwar period he commanded an infantry battalion in the Czechoslovak Army. As a proponent of democracy during the 1930s, Moravec was outspoken in his warnings about the expansionist plans of Germany under Adolf Hitler and appealed for armed action rather than capitulation to German demands for the Sudetenland. The history of the Czech lands – an area roughly corresponding to the present-day Czech Republic – starts approximately 800,000 years BCE. A simple chopper from that age was discovered at the Red Hill ( cz, Červený kopec) archeological site in Brno.
