James Douglas, 3rd Earl Of Angus
James Douglas, 3rd Earl of Angus, Lord of Liddesdale and Jedburgh Forest (1426–1446) was a Scottish nobleman. He was the son of William Douglas, 2nd Earl of Angus and Margaret Hay of Yester. Angus succeeded at the age of eleven years and was soon involved in strife with his Black Douglas cousins. He was forfeited of his estates by James II in 1445, under the influence of his near cousin William Douglas, 8th Earl of Douglas. The Earl of Douglas was trying to consolidate the power which he had gained through the murder of his cousins at the "Black Dinner" at Edinburgh Castle, sanctioned by the king and his own father James the Gross, 7th Earl of Douglas. James Douglas, 2nd Duke Of Queensberry
James Douglas, 2nd Duke of Queensberry and 1st Duke of Dover (18 December 16626 July 1711) was a Scottish nobleman. Life He was the eldest son of William Douglas, 1st Duke of Queensberry and his wife Isabel Douglas, daughter of William Douglas, 1st Marquess of Douglas. His title before succeeding his father was Lord Drumlanrig. Educated at the University of Glasgow, he was appointed a Scottish Privy Counsellor in 1684, and was lieutenant-colonel of Dundee's regiment of horse. He supported William III in 1688 and was appointed colonel of the Scots Troop, Horse Guards Regiment. On his father's death in 1695 he succeeded to several titles, including 2nd Duke of Queensberry. He was appointed Lord High Treasurer of Scotland from 1693 and Keeper of the Privy Seal of Scotland from 1695 to 1702. In 1696 he was appointed as Extraordinary Lord of Session. James Moffat Douglas
James Moffat Douglas (May 26, 1839 – August 19, 1920) was a farmer, missionary and politician from western Canada. He served as MP for a district in the NWT from 1896 to 1904 and as Canadian Senator from 1906 to 1920. The son of John and Euphemia (Moffat) Douglas, he was born and received his early education in Linton, Bankhead, Roxburghshire in Scotland, and came with his parents to settle on a small farm near Cambray, Ontario, in 1851. Douglas was elected to the House of Commons of Canada for the district of Assiniboia East in the 1896 Federal Election. He defeated William McDonald, who had been acclaimed as the riding's Member of Parliament in the previous election. James McCrie Douglas (5 February 1867 – 16 March 1950) was a politician in Alberta, Canada, a mayor of Edmonton, and a member of Parliament serving in the House of Commons of Canada from 1909 to 1921. Early life Douglas was born 5 February 1867 in Middleville, Lanark County, Ontario, the son of Rev James Douglas, a Scottish Presbyterian minister and Margaret, née Blyth. He was educated in Winnipeg, and came to Strathcona, Alberta in 1894, where he opened a mercantile business with his brother R. B. Douglas. Their business at 10402 Whyte Avenue was a local landmark for years until a fire destroyed it in 1913. On 1 November 1894 he married Mary Cameron Bickerton. James Lester Douglas (29 November 1881 – 30 September 1950) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Head of Hillsborough, Prince Edward Island, the son of Elisha Albert Douglas and Emma Louise Coffin. He became an exporter and farmer by career. He was educated at Charlottetown Business College. In 1910, Douglas received a Royal Humane Society Medal for life saving. He married Mabel Amanda Wright (1898–1969) on 17 May 1927. He was first elected to Parliament at the Queen's riding in the 1940 general election and re-elected there in the 1945 1945 marked the end of World War II and the fall of Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan. James Douglas Stoddart Douglas (1793 – 25 February 1875) was a British Conservative Party politician. Life James Douglas Stoddart was born in 1793, the son of George Alexander Stoddart and mother known only by the surname Bridges. He served in the Royal Navy, promoted to Lieutenant in 1815 on HMS ''Doris'', under Captain Robert O'Brien, then on the East India station. He became a Lieutenant in the Yeomanry Cavalry. The title of Baron Douglas, of Douglas in the county of Lanark, has been created twice, once in the Peerage of Great Britain and once in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. The first creation was on 8 July 1790 for Archibald James Edward Douglas, MP for Forfarshire. He was born Archibald Stewart, son of Sir John Stewart, 3rd Baronet of Grantully by his second wife Lady Jane Douglas, sister of Archibald Douglas, 1st Duke of Douglas. He had changed his name to Douglas in 1761 as heir to his uncle, but was disinherited by the Court of Session in 1767 and only confirmed in the estates by the House of Lords in 1769. This was known as the Douglas Cause. James Douglas, 1st Lord Dalkeith (after 1372 – before 22 May 1441) was a Scottish nobleman born in Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland to Sir James Douglas and Agnes Dunbar. James (the father) was the brother of Nicholas Douglas, 1st Lord of Mains. Lord Dalkeith descended from Andrew Douglas of Hermiston (or ''Herdmanston'') (d.b. 1277), younger son of Archibald I, Lord of Douglas (fl. c. 1198–1238). Andrew was succeeded by his son William Douglas of Hermiston, a signatory of the Ragman Roll in 1296. Sir James Douglas, 7th of Drumlanrig, (1498–1578) was a Scottish nobleman active in a turbulent time in Scotland's history. Life He was the son of Sir William Douglas, 6th of Drumlanrig (b. bef. 1484, k. 9 Sep 1513, Battle of Flodden) and Elizabeth Gordon of Lochinvar. As the descendant of William Douglas, 1st Earl of Douglas (b.1323 d.1384) and his first wife Margaret of Mar, he was a ‘Black Douglas’. James Douglas, 3rd Lord Mordington (born 1651), succeeded his father William Douglas, 2nd Lord Mordington, It is recorded in ''The Great Seal of Scotland'' (charter number 294) confirmed at Edinburgh on 2 August 1662, that James Douglas, Master of Mordington, eldest son of William Douglas, 2nd Lord Mordington, acquired the estates of Nether Mordington, as well as Edrington and its castle, which occupied the lower half of the parish. In the National Archives of Scotland (GD206/6/20) are Legal papers relative to the 20 merklands of Over and Nether Mordington in parish of Mordington, regality of Dalkeith and sheriffdom of Berwickshire, dated 1671 – 1710.
