Jim Watson (Illinois Politician)
Jim Watson (born 1965) is a former Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 97th district from 2001 through 2012. Watson's background includes teaching at both the high school and college level and 10 years of business experience. Biography Watson was a member of the United States Marine Corps and United States Marine Corps Reserves from 1985 until 1991 including service in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. Watson earned his B.A. and M.A. in history from Eastern Illinois University and his M.B.A. from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He was appointed to the Illinois House of Representatives to succeed Deputy Minority Leader Tom Ryder and was sworn into office on December 5, 2001 as the representative from the 97th district. Morgan County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. According to the 2010 census, it had a population of 35,547. Its county seat is Jacksonville. Morgan County is part of the Jacksonville, IL Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Springfield-Jacksonville-Lincoln, IL Combined Statistical Area. History Morgan County was formed in 1823 out of Greene and Sangamon Counties. It was named in honor of General Daniel Morgan, who defeated the British at the Battle of Cowpens in the American Revolutionary War. The ''Daily Herald'' is a daily newspaper based in Arlington Heights, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The newspaper is distributed in the northern, northwestern and western suburbs of Chicago. The Iraqi conflict is an armed conflict that began with the 2003 invasion of Iraq by a United States-led coalition that toppled the government of Saddam Hussein. The conflict continued as an insurgency emerged to oppose the occupying forces and the post-invasion Iraqi government. The I Marine Expeditionary Force ("I" pronounced "One") is a Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) of the United States Marine Corps primarily composed of the 1st Marine Division, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, and 1st Marine Logistics Group. It is based at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is the major West Coast base of the United States Marine Corps and is one of the largest Marine Corps bases in the United States. 1st Civil Affairs Group (1st CAG) is a civil affairs (CA) unit of the United States Marine Corps based at Camp Pendleton, California.
