Jeremiah Simbiken (born 17 August 2000) is an Australia-based Papua New Guinean professional rugby league footballer who plays as a for the Dolphins in the National Rugby League (NRL) and Papua New Guinea at international level. Background Simbiken was born in Eastern Highlands Province, Papua New Guinea. Playing career International career (2022) In 2022, Simbiken was named in the Papua New Guinea squad for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup in England, and made his international début for PNG against Wales in October 2022. Club career In the 2022 Queensland Cup state competition, Simbiken debuted for the Redcliffe Dolphins and scored a total of thirteen tries in sixteen matches. Goroka
Goroka is the capital of the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea. It is a town of approximately 19,000 people (2000), above sea level. It has an airport (in the centre of town) and is on the " Highlands Highway", about 285 km from Lae in Morobe province and 90 km from the nearby town of Kainantu also in the Eastern Highlands. Wales National Rugby League Team
The Wales national rugby league team represents Wales in international rugby league football matches. Currently the team is ranked 17th in the IRL World Rankings. The team was run under the auspices of the Rugby Football League, but an independent body, Wales Rugby League, now runs the team from Cardiff. Six Welsh players have been entered into the Rugby League Hall Of Fame. As with other Welsh national sporting teams, Wales strip has been primarily red. However, in the World Cup campaign in 2000 they wore a shirt featuring the Welsh flag, adding a touch of green and white. The team is known as "The Dragons" and so the team's logo on the shirt is a red dragon. 2022 Queensland Cup
The 2022 Queensland Cup season was the 27th season of Queensland's top-level statewide rugby league competition run by the Queensland Rugby League. The competition, known as the Hostplus Cup due to sponsorship, featured 14 teams playing a 24-week long season (including finals) from March to September. It is the first season played under Hostplus sponsorship, after 11 seasons known as the Intrust Super Cup. Norths Devils won their second consecutive grand final, defeating the Redcliffe Dolphins 16–10 to take their third Queensland Cup premiership. Teams In 2022, the line-up of teams remained unchanged for the eighth consecutive season. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the PNG Hunters were based out of the Gold Coast for the second consecutive season, playing their home games at Runaway Bay's Bycroft Oval. The 2021 Rugby League World Cup (RLWC2021) was a collection of world cups in the sport of rugby league, held in England from 15 October to 19 November 2022. England won hosting rights for the competition on 27 October 2016. The bid received £25 million UK government support, partnered with the UK Cabinet Office as part of a commitment to the Northern Powerhouse, with 87 percent of all matches to be held in Northern England, northern towns and cities. Redcliffe Dolphins
The Redcliffe Dolphins are a semi-professional rugby league club based in Redcliffe, Queensland, Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia. Founded in 1947, they were accepted into the Brisbane Rugby League premiership (rugby league competition), Brisbane Rugby League (BRL) premiership competition in 1960, and since 1996 have played in the Queensland Cup. The Redcliffe Dolphins thrived in the BRL. However, the 1988 admission of the Brisbane Broncos team in the National Rugby League, National Rugby League (NRL) competition caused the decline of the BRL. Although a separately licensed Dolphins (NRL) team is scheduled to compete in the fully professional 2023 national competition, the Redcliffe squad will continue to play in the Queensland competition.
