Jeff McEnery
Jeff McEnery (1984)"Small town, single and microwave mac'n cheese", CBC Radio Laugh Out Loud podcast, 27 January 2017. is a stand-up comedian and actor born and raised in the small town of Acton, Ontario, Canada. He is a graduate of Humber College's Comedy: Writing and Performance Program. In 2004, he won the college's Best First Year Stand-Up Award. He won the Tim Sims Encouragement Award in 2005 and Yuk Yuk's $25,000 Great Canadian Laugh Off in 2006. He was nominated twice for the Best Stand-Up Newcomer Canadian Comedy Award (2006–2007), winning in 2007. Acton, Ontario
Acton (population 9,377 in 2021) is a community located in the town of Halton Hills, in Halton Region, Ontario, Canada. At the northern end of the Region, it is on the outer edge of the Greater Toronto Area and is one of two of the primary population centres of the Town; the other is Georgetown. From 1842 until 1986, the town was a major centre for the tanning and leather goods industry. In the early years, it was often referred to as "Leathertown". History In 1825, the area now known as Acton was settled by the Rev. Ezra, Rev. Zenas, and Rufus Adams. Still Standing (Canadian TV Series)
''Still Standing'' is a Canadian television series, which premiered on CBC in summer 2015. The show's tagline slogan is "towns that are against the ropes but still hanging in there", reflecting the show's premise to tell the "story of small towns in Canada and how they overcome struggles". It is based on the Danish television series '' Gintberg på kanten'' (''Gintberg on the edge''). A hybrid comedy and reality series, the program features actor and comedian Jonny Harris. In each episode, Harris travels to small Canadian communities which are financially struggling but "still standing" and spends time getting to know the residents and their lifestyles. At the end of the trip, Harris performs a stand-up comedy show for the town's residents, into which he integrates some of his newfound insights about life in their community. Vancouver Film School (VFS) is a private entertainment arts school located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Founded in 1987, it has achieved international recognition. It was created by Barbara Wiechmann, and developed by Suzanne Bolch and John May. Plot The plot centers on 14-year-old Sadie Hawthorne, who lives with her parents and brother Hal in Whitby, Ontario.
