Jean Jouzel
Jean Jouzel, (born 5 March 1947) is a prominent France, French glaciologist and climatologist. He has mainly worked on the reconstruction of past climate derived from the study of the Antarctic and Greenland ice. Career Jean Jouzel's career occurred mostly in CEA (Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique) which is the French nuclear public organization. In 1991 he became vice president of LMCE which is the CEA laboratory dedicated to environment and climate ; in 1995 he became its research director. In 1998 he became director of climate research of Laboratoire des sciences du climat et de l'environnement, LSCE which resulted from the fusion of LMCE with another environmental research laboratory. From 2001 to 2008 he was director of IPSL (Institut Pierre Simon Laplace) which is a major federative laboratory on climate research in Paris region, including CEA LMCE-LSCE. Roger Revelle Medal
The Roger Revelle Medal is given out annually by the American Geophysical Union to recognize "outstanding accomplishments or contributions toward the understanding of the Earth’s atmospheric processes, including its dynamics, chemistry, and radiation; and toward the role of the atmosphere, atmosphere-ocean coupling, or atmosphere-land coupling in determining the climate, biogeochemical cycles, or other key elements of the climate system". Susan Solomon
Susan Solomon (born January 19, 1956 in Chicago) is an American atmospheric chemist, working for most of her career at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. In 2011, Solomon joined the faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she serves as the Ellen Swallow Richards Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry & Climate Science. Solomon, with her colleagues, was the first to propose the chlorofluorocarbon free radical reaction mechanism that is the cause of the Antarctic ozone hole. Solomon is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the European Academy of Sciences, and the French Academy of Sciences. The Vetlesen Prize is a prize in geology awarded jointly by Columbia University's Lamont–Doherty Earth Observatory and the G. Unger Vetlesen Foundation. The prize is generally regarded as the highest distinction in geologic studies, and the " Nobel Prize for geology". The Milutin Milankovic Medal is an annual award in Earth science presented by the European Geosciences Union (EGU). The award was introduced in 1993 by the European Geophysical Society (EGS). After a merger with the European Union of Geosciences in 2003, the award has been given by the Climate: Past, Present and Future Division.
