Jayen Varma
Jayen Varma (born 3 February 1961) is an Indian electric bass player. He is known for developing tabla and mridangam style finger technique on bass guitar to play slap bass. The style developed by him is widely known as Indian slap bass, which won him fans around the globe and accolades from some of the great names in bass guitar like Jeff Berlin, Bootsy Collins, Victor Wooten etc. He belongs to the State of Kerala in India. He performs with the banTrinaadconsisting of Indian classical vocalist Aparna Panshikar and French drummer Jean Davoisne. He is also a member of the bands Afro Tala and Firefly. Tripunithura
Thrippunithura or Tripunithura (), is a prominent historical and residential region in the City of Kochi in Kerala, India. Slap Bass
Slapping and popping are ways to produce percussive sounds on a stringed instrument. It is primarily used on the double bass or bass guitar. Slapping on bass guitar involves using the edge of one's knuckle, where it is particularly bony, to quickly strike the string against the fretboard. On bass guitars, this is commonly done with the thumb, while on double bass, the edge of the hand or index finger may be used. Jean Davoisne
Jean Davoisne is a French drummer and composer. Career Davoisne began his career as a drums teacher, bandmaster/conductor in music schools which helped him to begin two Tama drums schools in 2008 in southern France. He started performing at the age of 16 and did his very first project named Ultimatum in 1995, the band performed grunge/punk rock at the JMF his first step on stage. Aparna Panshikar is an Indian classical ( Hindustani) vocalist living in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Career Panshikar's musical performances include pure Hindustani classical music to semi-classical music and experimentation in combining north Indian classical music with various other genres. Victor Wooten
Victor Lemonte Wooten (born September 11, 1964) is an American bassist, songwriter, and record producer. He has been the bassist for Béla Fleck and the Flecktones since the group's formation in 1988 and a member of the band SMV with two other bassists, Stanley Clarke and Marcus Miller. From 2017 to 2019 he recorded as the bassist for the metal band Nitro. He owns Vix Records, which releases his albums. William Earl "Bootsy" Collins (born October 26, 1951) is an American bass guitarist and singer. Rising to prominence with James Brown in the early 1970s, and later with Parliament-Funkadelic, Collins established himself as one of the leading names and innovators in funk with his driving basslines and humorous vocals. He later formed his own P-Funk side project known as Bootsy's Rubber Band. Jeffrey Arthur Berlin (born January 17, 1953) is an American jazz fusion bassist. He first came to prominence in the 1970s as a member of the band Bruford led by drummer Bill Bruford. Musical career Berlin was born on January 17, 1953, in Queens, New York. He studied violin from 4 until 14 years of age, when he was inspired to play bass guitar after seeing the Beatles. He attended Berklee College of Music to study bass. After session work with Patrick Moraz, David Liebman and Patti Austin, he gained widespread international attention in 1977 when British musician Bill Bruford handpicked him for his debut album '' Feels Good to Me''.
