Manicoré River
Manicoré River ( pt, Rio Manicoré) is a river of Amazonas state in north-western Brazil. It is a tributary of the Madeira River and merges into this river about upstream from the town of Manicoré. The headwaters of the river are in the Campos Amazônicos National Park, a protected area created in 2006 that holds an unusual enclave of cerrado vegetation in the Amazon rainforest. Further north the river defines part of the eastern boundary of the Campos de Manicoré Environmental Protection Area, created in April 2016 just before the provisional removal of president Dilma Rousseff. Manicoré Biological Reserve
The Manicoré Biological Reserve ( pt, Reserva Biológica do Manicoré) is a biological reserve in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. It fully protects an intact area of the Amazon rainforest that is rich in biodiversity, and serves as part of a shield against the advance of the arc of deforestation. Location The Manicoré Biological Reserve is the municipalities of Manicoré (54.92%) and Novo Aripuanã (45.08%) in the state of Amazonas. It is north of the Trans-Amazonian Highway (BR-230). It is bounded by the Campos de Manicoré Environmental Protection Area (APA) to the west and by the Aripuanã National Forest to the south and east. Both of these units were created at the same time as the Manicoré Biological Reserve. It lies to the west of the Aripuanã River, a tributary of the Madeira River. Dilma Rousseff
Dilma Vana Rousseff (; born 14 December 1947) is a Brazilian economist and politician who served as the 36th president of Brazil, holding the position from 2011 until her impeachment and removal from office on 31 August 2016. She is the first woman to have held the Brazilian presidency and had previously served as chief of staff to former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva from 2005 to 2010. Rousseff was raised in an upper middle class household in Belo Horizonte. She became a socialist in her youth and after the 1964 coup d'état joined left-wing and Marxist urban guerrilla groups that fought against the military dictatorship.
