Major Jaswant Singh (; 3 January 193827 September 2020) was an officer of the Indian Army and an Indian Cabinet Minister. He was one of the founding members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and was one of India's longest serving parliamentarians, having been a member of the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha almost continuously between 1980 and 2014. He was NDA's Vice-presidential candidate in the 2012 Indian vice presidential election. Singh was the only leader from Rajasthan who had the distinction of becoming the Minister Of External Affairs, Finance and Defense. He was elected on a BJP ticket to the Rajya Sabha five times (1980, 1986, 1998, 1999, 2004) and to the Lok Sabha four times (1990, 1991, 1996, 2009). Jaswant Singh Rathore (26 December 1626 – 28 December 1678) was a Maharaja of Marwar in the present-day Indian state of Rajasthan. He was a distinguished man of letters and author of "Siddhant-bodh", "Anand Vilas" and "Bhasa-bhusan". Early life Born on 26 December 1626 at Burhanpur, Jaswant Singh was the youngest son of Maharaja Gaj Singh of Marwar. His mother, Sisodini Pratap Deviji, was the favorite wife of his father and was the daughter Bhan Sisodia, eldest son of Shakti Singh Sisodia. Reign Jaswant Singh succeeded his father on his death by special decree of the Emperor Shah Jahan, in accordance with his father's wishes, on 6 May 1638. Maharaja Jashwant Singh ( hi, महाराजा जशवन्त सिंह, links=no) (1851-1893) was the ruler of the princely state of Bharatpur from 1853 to 1893 in Rajasthan, India. His successor was Maharaja Ram Singh. Early life Jaswant Singh was born at Deeg on 1 March 1851. He was the only son of Maharaja Balwant Singh. He was educated privately. He had knowledge of the Hindi, English and Persian languages. Jaswant Singh Khoji (also known as Bauji) was the founder of Braham Bunga Trust and Naam Simran congregation camps at Dodra. Background At the age of 24, while serving as a clerk in the Indian Army in Burma, Jaswant Singh became impressed by the writings of Sikh scholars Professor Puran Singh and Bhai Vir Singh. He was baptized at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib Amritsar, and started conducting his life according to the principles of the Sikh religion. Upon retirement from the Army, he founded the Sikh congregation camps movement with former army companions from Myanmar. Khoji never intentionally promoted himself or his works. Jaswant Singh Kanwal (27 June 1919 – 1 February 2020) was an Indian novelist, short story writer and essayist of the Punjabi language. Lieutenant Colonel Jaswant Singh Marwah (born 21 January 1921) is an Indian former soldier, journalist and author, and the father of General Joginder Jaswant Singh, the first Sikh Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army. He was a former Special Duty Officer in the Archaeological Survey of India, and served in the Indian Army's Electrical Mechanical Engineering branch from 1943 to 1973. A veteran of the Second World War, he received an emergency commission in the Royal Indian Army Service Corps on 27 June 1943.
