Jaspers' Warp
"Jaspers' Warp", also known as "Crooked World", was a Marvel UK storyline featuring primarily the character Captain Britain. It was originally published between 1981 and 1984 in '' Marvel Superheroes'', #377–388, ''The Daredevils'', #1–11 and '' The Mighty World of Marvel'', volume 2, #7–13. The story features Alan Davis's first work with the Captain Britain character. It also features the only mainstream Marvel Universe work by Alan Moore, who took over writing of the storyline one-third of the way through the saga (''Marvel Superheroes'' #387) when David Thorpe (who began the storyline) abruptly left the series. It officially designated the mainstream Marvel Universe with the label 616 and introduced many concepts regarding the Marvel Multiverse, such as the Captain Britain Corps and Saturnyne. Alan Davis
Alan Davis (born 18 June 1956) is an English artist and writer of comic books, known for his work on titles such as ''Captain Britain'', ''The Uncanny X-Men'', ''ClanDestine'', ''Detective Comics'', ''Excalibur'', '' JLA: The Nail'' and '' JLA: Another Nail''. Career UK work Davis began his career in comics on an English fanzine. His first professional work was a strip called ''The Crusader'' in ''Frantic Magazine'' for Dez Skinn's revamped Marvel UK line. Davis's big break was drawing the revamped Captain Britain story in '' Marvel Superheroes''. At the time, he was working full-time in a warehouse in Corby doing work that included loading trucks. ''Hulk Comic'' (later ''The Incredible Hulk Weekly'') was a black-and-white Marvel UK comics anthology published under the editorship of Dez Skinn starting in 1979. Publication history After starring for many years in the Marvel UK flagship title, '' The Mighty World of Marvel'', the Hulk was given his own weekly publication. Explaining the thinking behind the comic Dez Skinn said: "I was wanting an adventure anthology title more than a super-hero one. Super-heroes had never been big sellers in the UK, we had plenty of legends of the past to spin fantasies about. The red fox (''Vulpes vulpes'') is the largest of the true foxes and one of the most widely distributed members of the Order (biology), order Carnivora, being present across the entire Northern Hemisphere including most of North America, Europe and Asia, plus parts of North Africa. The Special Executive
The Special Executive is a fictional group of time-traveling mercenaries, appearing in British and American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Alan Moore, David Lloyd and Alan Davis, they first appeared in the pages of Doctor Who Monthly and Captain Britain. Slaymaster is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character has appeared in the ''Captain Britain'' series. Publication history The Slaymaster's first appearance was in '' Super Spider-Man and Captain Britain'' #243 (October 1977), a weekly Marvel UK title which featured a mix of reprint and original material. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (; 27 January 1832 – 14 January 1898), better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, was an English author, poet and mathematician. AVANT, also known as AVANT street art guerrilla collective, was the artist group active in New York City from 1980 to 1984. By 1984 AVANT had produced thousands of acrylic on paper paintings and plastered them on walls, doors, bus-stops and galleries citywide. Principal artists were Christopher Hart Chambers, David Fried, and Marc Thorne. AVANT was a group of five young New York artists working collectively who wheat pasted handmade original poster sized works of non-calligraphic art in the streets of NYC. While the members of Avant assert that they began in the winter of 1980, the earliest available press documentation of their street art or art exhibitions is found in the New York Native from June 1982, wherein a later article published in the Villager places their origins at January 1981.
