Jason Ryan (Gaelic Footballer)
Jason Ryan (born 1976) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player at senior level for the Waterford county team, as well as for the London county football team and London county hurling team. Ryan is the former manager of the Kildare and Wexford county teams. Career Born in Dungarvan, County Waterford, Ireland, Ryan's playing career brought him to both Ireland and Britain. While studying in St Mary's in Twickenham he played football with Tara and hurling with St Gabriel's, while also lining out with the London senior inter-county teams in both codes. He went on to be a P.E. teacher at Salesian School, Chertsey. On his return to Ireland Ryan joined the De La Salle club, while he also lined out at senior level with the Waterford county football team. De La Salle GAA
De La Salle Gaelic football and hurling club is based in Waterford City, Ireland. The club competes in Gaelic games competitions organised by Waterford GAA board. The club has won the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship twice and the Waterford Senior Football Championship on 6 occasions. While having a notable record in gaelic football, today the club mainly focuses on hurling. History The club takes its name from St. Stephens De La Salle National School in Patrick Street and previous to the current club being established, fielded a hurling team under the name of St. Stephens. St. Stephens won 2 Senior County Hurling Championships, 1913 and 1914. In recent years the club has concentrated on developing juvenile players and now has one of the biggest under age setups in the South East of Ireland. Hurling
Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. The ' can be caught in the hand and carried for not more than four steps, struck in the air or struck on the ground with the hurley. Cian O'Neill
Dr Cian O'Neill is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who has since been a Gaelic games coach (physical trainer), selector and manager with various county teams. He has been attached to the Galway county football team, under Pádraic Joyce, since 2021. O'Neill trained the Tipperary county hurling team that won the 2010 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. After involvement with the Mayo and Kerry county football teams, he served as manager of the Kildare county football team for several years. Career O'Neill is originally from Newbridge, County Kildare. He played football for Kildare GAA club Moorefield but his career was cut short by serious back injury. O'Neill has coached both the Tipperary county hurling team and the Kerry county football team. Kieran McGeeney (born 18 October 1971) is an Irish people, Irish Gaelic football Manager (Gaelic games), manager and former player, who currently manages his native county, having previously managed the senior Kildare county football team, Kildare county team from 2007 until 2013. McGeeney played football with his local club Mullaghbawn Cúchullain's GFC, Mullaghbawn Cúchullain's in Armagh and also for CLG Na Fianna, Na Fianna club in Dublin. Paul Bealin
Paul Bealin (born 1967/1968) is a former Gaelic footballer who played in midfield at senior level for the Dublin county team. He later managed three senior county teams: Westmeath (sacked after a year), Wexford (resigning in October 2007) and Carlow (after two years at the helm), as well as clubs in several counties. Bealin is the key account manager for Baro Lighting, in Dundrum, in Dublin 14. Playing career Bealin is most remembered for his performances in his All-Ireland Senior Football Championship winning year with Dublin in 1995, in which he partnered Brian Stynes in midfield. The Kildare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kildare GAA, is one of 12 county boards governed by the Leinster provincial council of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Kildare The County Board is responsible for preparing the Kildare county teams in the various Gaelic sporting codes; football, hurling and camogie.
