Jason Maroney
Jason Maroney (born 19 March 1967) is an Australian shooter. He was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in shooting. He did not medal at the 2012 Games. Personal Maroney was born on 19 March 1967. He is originally from Glenrowan, Victoria. He spent time in the army. He became a quadriplegic as a result of a car accident when he was 19 years old. He uses a wheelchair. Shooting Maroney is a shooter. He is classified as a SH2 shooter. Maroney took up competitive shooting in 2004. He first represented Australia in 2005. In 2006, he demonstrated the sport to six people with disabilities as part of a Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA) held the Shooting For All day event in Springvale. He competed at the 2008 Summer Paralympics, making the finals in the mixed R5-10m air rifle prone SH2 event and finishing sixth overall. Glenrowan, Victoria
Glenrowan is a town located in the Wangaratta local government area of Victoria, Australia. It is 236 kilometres north-east of Melbourne and 14 kilometres from Wangaratta and near the Warby Ranges and Mount Glenrowan. At the , Glenrowan had a population of 963. History Glenrowan was named after farmers James and George Rowan who ran farms in the area between 1846 and 1858. The township was settled in the late 1860s, the Post Office opening on 22 February 1870. It is famous for the bushranger Ned Kelly, who made his last stand and was eventually captured there in 1880 after a siege and shootout with police. The local railway station opened in 1874 and closed to passengers in 1981. SH2 (classification)
SH2 is a Paralympic shooting classification. Sport This Paralympic shooting sport class is designated to shooters with a more severe impairment in the upper limbs, which necessitates them to use a shooting stand. Unlike the SH1 class they shoot with a rifle only and not with pistols. Becoming classified Sub-classifications A, B and C define wheelchair backrest height depending on back and pelvic strength per athlete. Ambulant or wheelchair using shooters regardless of sub-classifications A, B or C shoot together in this class. Classification is handled by International Paralympic Committee Shooting.
