Jaroslav Olesnitsky (Ярослав Іванович Олесницький) (born: 1875, Halych, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast - died July 15, 1933, Zolochiv, Lviv oblast) was a Ukrainian diplomat, politic, lawyer. Head of the Ukrainian mission to the United Kingdom (1920-1921). Career In October 1918 - he was a delegate to the Ukrainian Lviv National Council proclaimed the establishment of the West Ukrainian People's Republic in November 1918. 22 January 1919 - he became an adviser of the Western Ukrainian People's Republic foreign affairs secretariat and was a member of the Western Ukrainian delegation in Kyiv to the proclamation of the union of the Western Ukrainian People's Republic with the Ukrainian People's Republic. 28 January 1919 - he appointed First Counsellor of the diplomatic mission of the Ukrainian People's Republic which began work in London in May 1919. Western Ukrainian People's Republic
The West Ukrainian People's Republic (WUPR) or West Ukrainian National Republic (WUNR), known for part of its existence as the Western Oblast of the Ukrainian People's Republic, was a short-lived polity that controlled most of Eastern Galicia from November 1918 to July 1919. It included the cities of Lviv, Ternopil, Kolomyia, Drohobych, Boryslav, Stanislaviv (now Ivano-Frankivsk) and right-bank Przemyśl, and claimed parts of Bukovina and Carpathian Ruthenia. Politically, the Ukrainian National Democratic Party (the precursor of the interwar Ukrainian National Democratic Alliance) dominated the legislative assembly, guided by varying degrees of Greek Catholic, liberal and socialist ideology. Jacek Maria Majchrowski (born 13 January 1947 in Sosnowiec) is a Polish politician, lawyer, historian, professor at the Jagiellonian University, and the current mayor of Kraków since 2002; making him the longest serving mayor in the history of the city, and the only one who was elected by the townspeople five times in a row.
