Yūzō Kayama
is a Japanese popular musician, singer-songwriter and actor. Life and career Son of mid-twentieth century film star Ken Uehara,and actress Yoko Kozakura, ( ja) Kayama graduated from Keio University. Yuzo Kayama signed with Toho and made his film debut with ''Otoko tai Otoko'' directed by Senkichi Taniguchi in 1960. He was cast in the leading role in the 1960 film ''Dokuritsu Gurentai Nishie'' directed by Kihachi Okamoto. Kayama rose to stardom in the 1960s in the '' Wakadaishō'' ("Young Guy") film series. He showed his ability for drama when Akira Kurosawa cast him for his films ''Sanjuro'' and ''Red Beard''. In the 1970s, he starred such television dramas as ''Edo no Kaze'' and ''Daitsuiseki''. Kyōko Kishida
was a Japanese actress, voice actress, and writer of children's books. Career Kishida became an actress in 1950, and starred in a Yukio Mishima production of the 1960 film '' Salome''. Her film and television drama credits number in the hundreds. Among them are four Taiga drama series on NHK television, with roles such as Aguri (the wife of Asano Naganori and Yodo-Dono (the wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi). She appeared in various roles, including acting and narrating, in various ''Ōoku'' series on television. Keiko Awaji
was a Japanese film actress. Notable highlights of her career were an appearance in Akira Kurosawa's '' Stray Dog'', and a role as Kimiko in ''The Bridges at Toko-Ri'', in which she appeared alongside William Holden and Mickey Rooney. Her first husband was Filipino musician and actor Rodrigo "Bimbo" Danao; they had two children together. Their eldest is actor Etsuo Shima. Her second husband was Japanese actor Yorozuya Kinnosuke, but they divorced in 1987. Their eldest son, Akihiro, died in a car crash in 1990. Fubuki Koshiji
, real name was a Japanese singer and actress. She joined the Takarazuka Revue in 1939. Though she was recognized as a star at Takarazuka, she left in 1951. When she chose to leave the troupe, Koshiji's friend, Tokiko Iwatani, also quit to manage Koshiji's budding career in film, made possible by the liberalization that took place during and after the occupation of Japan. Throughout the 1950s, Koshiji appeared in productions that merged the art of shinpa, shingeki, and kabuki. Koshiji was influenced by French singer Édith Piaf and released a Japanese-language cover of Piaf's "Hymne à l'amour" in 1951. Tsutomu Yamazaki
is a Japanese actor. He won the Blue Ribbon Award for Best Actor in 1984 for '' The Funeral'' and '' Farewell to the Ark''. Tamio Kawachi
was a Japanese actor. Career Kawachi was a student at Kanto Gakuin University when Yujiro Ishihara, one of his neighbors in Zushi, Kanagawa, invited him to join the Nikkatsu studio. He made his debut in ''A Slope in the Sun'' (1958) playing Ishihara's younger brother. The studio initially sold him as one of the "Bad Trio" along with Akira Kobayashi and Tadao Sawamoto. He appeared in films by Koreyoshi Kurahara and Seijun Suzuki and is probably most known abroad for his starring roles in Kurahara's ''The Warped Ones'' (1960) and '' Black Sun'' (1964). Kawachi eventually left Nikkatsu for the Toei Company, and co-starred in the 9-film ''Mamushi kyōdai'' series with Bunta Sugawara in the 1970s. Chieko Matsubara
is a Japanese actress from Nagoya, Spotted at a beauty contest sponsored by the Nikkatsu studio, Matsubara made her debut in 1961 at age 16 in ''Yoru no chōsensha''. Joe Shishido
was a Japanese actor most recognizable for his intense, eccentric yakuza film roles and his artificially enlarged cheekbones. He appeared in some 300 films but is best known in the West for his performance in the cult film ''Branded to Kill'' (1967).
