Japan competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris from 26 July to 11 August 2024. Japanese athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Olympic Games from 1912 onwards, except for two occasions: the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, to which they were not invited because of the nation's role in World War II, and the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, due to their participation in the United States-led boycott. The is the National Olympic Committee in Japan for the Olympic Games movement, based in Tokyo, Japan. Hifumi Abe
is a Japanese judoka. Abe rose to prominence after becoming Youth Olympic champion in 2014. He won the Tokyo Grand Slam later that year, at just 17-years-old, beating then-World Champion Masashi Ebinuma. He was the silver medalist at the junior World Championships in Fort Lauderdale. Abe is the current national half-lightweight champion at the All-Japan Judo Championships and won the gold medal in the 66 kg competition at the 2020 Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. Kazuma Kaya
is a Japanese artistic gymnast. Kaya was part of the Japanese team that won the gold medal in the team event at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He also won a gold medal in the 2015 Asian Championships in Hiroshima. At the 2018 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships he wobronzewith the team to help Japan qualify to the 2020 Summer Olympics. Takaaki Sugino
is a Japanese artistic gymnast. He won a gold medal with the Japanese team at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Early and personal life Sugino was born in Tsu, Mie, and began gymnastics when he was six. He has two older brothers who also competed in gymnastics. His father died of cancer when he was in high school. Yuto Horigome (skateboarder)
is a Japanese professional skateboarder. He won the gold medal in the inaugural Olympic men's street event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, becoming the first person ever to win a gold medal in skateboarding at the Olympics.
