Japan Academy Prize (film)
The , often called the Japan Academy Prize, the Japan Academy Awards, and the Japanese Academy Awards, is a series of awards given annually since 1978 by the Japan Academy Film Prize Association (日本アカデミー賞協会, ''Nippon Akademii-shou Kyoukai'') for excellence in Japanese film. Award categories are similar to the Academy Awards. Venue Since 1998 the venue is regularly the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa of Prince Hotels in Takanawa, Minato-ku, Tokyo. Admission tickets for this award ceremony are also sold to regular customers. As of 2015, there is a charge of 40,000 Yen which includes a French cuisine course dinner named after the award ceremony. A Taxing Woman
is a 1987 Japanese film written and directed by Juzo Itami. It won numerous awards, including six major Japanese Academy awards. The title character of the film, played by Nobuko Miyamoto, is a tax investigator for the Japanese National Tax Agency who employs various techniques to catch tax evaders. The director reportedly was inspired to make the film after he entered a much higher tax bracket after his success with '' The Funeral''. A sequel, ''A Taxing Woman 2'', featuring some of the same characters but darker in tone, was released in 1988. It is based on a book of the same name by Japanese writer Yasushi Inoue. Plot The film tells about real historical events in the interstate relations of the Russian Empire during the time of Catherine II and Japan during the time of the Tokugawa shogunate that occurred in the 1780s - 1790s . In 1782, the Japanese ship Shinsho-maru , captained by Daikokuya Kodai (Ogata), with a crew of 16 sailors, was caught in a storm. is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akimi Yoshida. It was serialized from 1985 to 1986 in Hakusensha's manga magazine LaLa. Black Rain (1989 Japanese Film)
is a 1989 Japanese drama film by director Shōhei Imamura, based on the novel of the same name by Masuji Ibuse. The story centers on the aftermath of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and its effect on a surviving family. Plot Half-orphan Yasuko, who lives with her uncle Shigematsu and his wife Shigeko in Hiroshima, is in the middle of moving family belongings to the house of an acquaintance in the vicinity, when the atomic bomb is dropped. She returns to the city by boat and gets into a black rain, a fallout resulting from the bombing. After Yasuko is re-united with her uncle and aunt, the trio heads for the factory where her uncle works to escape the spreading fires.
