Janne Karlsson (ice Hockey, Born 1964)
Jan "Janne" Peter Karlsson (born 30 May 1964) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey player defenceman and general manager, currently the head coach of the Karlskrona HK. Playing career Karlsson was born in Kiruna and therefore has Kiruna AIF as his youth team. In the 1982 NHL Entry Draft, Karlsson was drafted in the 8th round, 162nd overall, by the New York Rangers. He left Kiruna AIF after the 1980–81 season, playing nine games with the team in the then second-tier league Division 1. The following season Karlsson played in Sweden's national under-18 team in the 1982 IIHF European U18 Championship, scoring two points in five games and winning a gold medal. Karlsson also played in Sweden's national under-20 team in the 1983 respectively 1984 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). They were once called cover-point. In regular play, two defencemen complement three Forward (ice hockey), forwards and a goaltender on the ice. 2009 Kvalserien
The 2009 Kvalserien was the 35th Kvalserien qualification for Elitserien, played between 13 March and 9 April 2009. The 2009 Kvalserien included six teams. In this year's Kvalserien, Södertälje and Rögle, who both came from Elitserien, qualified for the 2009–10 Elitserien season. It was the first time since 2003 that both teams from Elitserien managed to stay in Elitserien via Kvalserien. AIK made their first Kvalserien qualification for Elitserien since 2004. Växjö Lakers made their first Kvalserien qualification for Elitserien in the club's history. Södertälje won the 2009 Kvalserien, ending at 22 points, followed by Rögle who got 19 points. Huddinge IK (or ''Huddinge Hockey''), is a Swedish ice hockey team from Huddinge, a southern suburb in Stockholm County. The team is currently playing in the third highest league in Sweden, Hockeyettan. In the middle of the 1990s, a women's floorball section was founded, whose A-team advanced to Elitserien, the highest league, in 2008. Swedish Hockey League
The Swedish Hockey League (officially SHL; sv, Svenska Hockeyligan) is a professional ice hockey league, and the highest division in the Swedish ice hockey system. The league currently consists of 14 teams. The league was founded in 1975, and while Swedish ice hockey champions have been crowned through various formats since 1922, the title and the Le Mat Trophy have been awarded to the winner of the SHL playoffs since the league's inaugural 1975–76 season. In the 2010–11 season, the SHL was the world's most evenly matched professional ice hockey league. During the 2011–12 season, the SHL was the most well attended ice hockey league in Europe, averaging 6,385 spectators per game, however in 2013–14, the SHL was third best in Europe, with an attendance average of 5,978.
