Jan Van Der Crabben
Jan van der Crabben (born 1964) is a Belgian people, Belgian baritone singer. Born in 1964 in Genk, Belgium, van der Crabben studied music at the Etterbeek Academy under the direction of Aquiles Delle Vigne and subsequently at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. He has performed in Belgium and internationally and has worked with the likes of Pierre Bartholomée, Shalev Ad-El, Andrew Lawrence-King, and Alexander Rahbari. He has recorded multiple CDs of the baroque music, baroque and Classical period (music), classical music of Johann Sebastian Bach, Willem de Fesch, George Frideric Händel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, and others. He has regularly collaborated in the field of historically informed performance with Sigiswald Kuijken's La Petite Bande. World History Encyclopedia
World History Encyclopedia (formerly Ancient History Encyclopedia) is a nonprofit educational company created in 2009 by Jan van der Crabben. The organization publishes and maintains articles, images, videos, podcasts, and interactive educational tools related to history. All users may contribute content to the site, although submissions are reviewed by an editorial team before publication. In 2021, the organization was renamed from the Ancient History Encyclopedia to World History Encyclopedia to reflect its broadened scope, covering world history from all time periods, as opposed to just ancient history. Historically informed performance (also referred to as period performance, authentic performance, or HIP) is an approach to the performance of Western classical music, classical music, which aims to be faithful to the approach, manner and style of the musical era in which a work was originally conceived. It is based on two key aspects: the application of the stylistic and technical aspects of performance, known as performance practice; and the use of #Early instruments, period instruments which may be reproductions of historical instruments that were in use at the time of the original composition, and which usually have different timbre and temperament (music), temperament from their modern equivalents. Capella Brugensis
Capella is the brightest star in the northern constellation of Auriga. It has the Bayer designation α Aurigae, which is Latinised to Alpha Aurigae and abbreviated Alpha Aur or α Aur. The European Festivals Association (EFA) is an umbrella group for various festivals in Europe and other countries. Christoph Genz (born 1 March 1971 in Erfurt) is a German tenor in opera and concert. Career Christoph Genz was a member of the Thomanerchor. He studied music at King's College, Cambridge, where he was a member of the King's College Choir. He studied voice with Hans-Joachim Beyer at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig and with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. Petra Noskaiová is a Slovak classical mezzo-soprano, active in the field of Baroque music. Career Noskaiová studied music at the conservatory of Bratislava from 1988 to 1994 and voice with Ružena Illenbergerová. She continued studies with Marius van Altena, Harry van der Kamp and Sigiswald Kuijken. Siri Thornhill
Siri Karoline Thornhill is a Norwegian classical soprano for concert and opera, known for singing music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Career Thornhill studied singing first in her hometown Stavanger with Marit Storækre and continued with a scholarship from the Norwegian government at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Marius van Altena, Rita Dams and Diane Forlano. She took master-classes with Cristina Deutekom, Elly Ameling, Ton Koopman, Beata Heuer-Christen, Anna Reynolds and Jean Cox. Eibingen Abbey
Eibingen Abbey (german: Abtei St. Hildegard, full name: Benedictine Abbey of St. Hildegard) is a community of Benedictine nuns in Eibingen near Rüdesheim in Hesse, Germany. Founded by Hildegard of Bingen in 1165, it was dissolved in 1804, but restored, with new buildings, in 1904. The nuns produce wine and crafts. They sing regular services, which have been at times recorded. The church is also used as a concert venue. The abbey is a Rhine Gorge World Heritage Site. Rheingau Musik Festival
The (RMF) is an international summer music festival in Germany, founded in 1987. It is mostly for classical music, but includes other genres. Concerts take place at culturally important locations, such as Eberbach Abbey and Schloss Johannisberg, in the wine-growing Rheingau region between Wiesbaden and Lorch. Initiative and realisation The festival was the initiative of Michael Herrmann, who has served as its Artistic Director and chief executive officer. Like the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival founded in 1986, the Rheingau festival was intended to add life to a region rich in musical heritage.
