Jan Bieleman
Jan Bieleman (Heino, 1949 – 9 June 2021) was a Dutch historian whose specialty was Dutch agriculture from the Middle Ages on. He is best known for his monograph ''Five centuries of farming: A short history of Dutch agriculture 1500-2000'' (2000). From 1982 until he retired in 2012 he was a member of the Rural and Environmental History chair group at Wageningen University & Research. Bieleman was an editor for the series ''Techniek in Nederland in de twintigste eeuw'', published by the Instituut voor Transitiestudies of the Stichting Historie der Techniek; he was responsible for the agriculture section. Career Bieleman was trained in landscape architecture at the Landbouwhogeschool in Wageningen, and his work as a historical geographer benefited from his knowledge of landscape history. Heino, Netherlands
Heino is a village in the province of Overijssel in the Netherlands. It belongs to the municipality of Raalte and it has 7,080 inhabitants (January 2018). The village has a railway station along the railway Zwolle - Enschede and it can also be reached by the road N35. Heino was a separate municipality until 2001, when it merged with Raalte to form a new municipality with the name Raalte. Heino is very touristic village with many estates and country houses. Drenthe
Drenthe () is a province of the Netherlands located in the northeastern part of the country. It is bordered by Overijssel to the south, Friesland to the west, Groningen to the north, and the German state of Lower Saxony to the east. Bernard Slicher Van Bath
Bernard Hendrik Slicher, since 1933 calling himself Slicher van Bath, was a Dutch social historian, best known internationally for his 1960 work ''The Agrarian History of Western Europe, AD 500–1850'' and regarded as the initiator of quantitative social history in his native country. Slicher commenced his studies in history at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in 1930 and moved to Utrecht in 1934 where he studied under the German medievalist Otto Oppermann. Having graduated in 1936, he took an assistant position with Oppermann, typing the professor's manuscripts and maintaining his library, which brought him into contact with the journal ''Annales d'histoire économique et sociale''. Slicher van Bath then worked for some time as an archivist in Gelderland, being able to avoid conscription as a former sufferer of polio, and returned to Oppermann's service in 1941. Gelderland (), also known as Guelders () in English, is a province of the Netherlands, occupying the centre-east of the country. Overijssel (, ; nds, Oaveriessel ; german: Oberyssel) is a Provinces of the Netherlands, province of the Netherlands located in the eastern part of the country. The province's name translates to "across the IJssel", from the perspective of the Bishopric of Utrecht, Episcopal principality of Utrecht by which it was held until 1528.
