Jamison Family Deaths
The Jamison family deaths occurred on or after October 8, 2009, when the Jamison family of Eufaula, Oklahoma, United States Bobby Jamison, his wife Sherilynn, and daughter Madyson mysteriously disappeared. The family was reportedly considering the purchase of a 40-acre plot of land near Red Oak, about from Eufaula, at the time that they vanished. Their suspected remains were found in November 2013 and positively identified by the Oklahoma medical examiner on July 3, 2014. No cause of death was determined, and the circumstances surrounding their disappearance remain unknown. Disappearance The initial investigation into the Jamison family's disappearance indicated that they had probably not vanished of their own accord. Red Oak, Oklahoma
Red Oak is a town in Latimer County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 537 at the 2020 Census. Eight miles northeast of the present town is the original site of Red Oak. There in 1850 Thomas Edwards established a trading post on the Fort Smith–Boggy Depot Road. With the advent of the Butterfield Overland Mail and stage line in 1858, Edwards's already prosperous store became a stopping place for mail and passengers. In March 1868 the store became an official post office, with Edwards as postmaster. He named the post office Red Oak, probably because there were trees near the store. The official designation was Red Oak, Skullyville County, Choctaw Nation. Edwards's Store has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places (NR 72001069). McStay Family Murders
The McStay family murders occurred on or near February 4, 2010, after the family disappeared from their home in Fallbrook, California, United States; their bodies were found in the desert near Victorville, California, on November 13, 2013. Their disappearance was widely reported by the national news media. On November 7, 2014, police announced they had arrested Charles "Chase" Merritt, Joseph McStay's business partner, and intended to charge him with the murders. The trial began on January 7, 2019, in San Bernardino. On June 10, 2019, a jury found Merritt guilty of murdering the McStay family. He was sentenced to death on January 21, 2020.
