James And The Giant Peach (musical)
''James and the Giant Peach'' is a musical with music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and book by Timothy Allen McDonald based on Roald Dahl's 1961 James and the Giant Peach, children's book of the same name. After McDonald and Leslie Bricusse successfully developed ''Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'' into a Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka (musical), musical, using songs from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, the 1971 film adaptation, Dahl's widow Liccy granted the rights to develop ''James and the Giant Peach'' to McDonald. McDonald started assembling the creative team in 2005. Lynn Ahrens, Freddie Gershon and Michael Kerker recommended the songwriting team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul in 2008. After an audition where Pasek and Paul wrote three potential songs in a week, including two that would be worked into the show (James's first solo, "On Your Way Home" and "Property of Spiker and Sponge"), McDonald hired the duo. Justin Paul
Justin Paul (born January 3, 1985) is an American theater and television composer and lyricist best known for his works ''The Greatest Showman'', ''La La Land'' and ''Dear Evan Hansen'', all of which he co-wrote with his songwriting partner, Benj Pasek. Early life and education Paul was born in Missouri, but raised in Connecticut. He attended Music Theatre of Connecticut School of Performing Arts, Coleytown Middle School, and Staples High School, both in Westport, Connecticut. While at Staples High School, he was an active member of the school's theater group, Staples Players. He graduated from the University of Michigan in December 2006 with a BFA in Musical Theatre. East Haddam is a town in Middlesex County, Connecticut. The population was 8,875 at the time of the 2020 census. History Until 1650, the area of East Haddam was inhabited by at least three Indigenous peoples: the Wangunk, the Mohegan and the Niantic. The Indigenous nations called the area "Machimoodus", the place of noises, because of numerous earthquakes that were recorded between 1638 and 1899.
