James Rutherford (24 October 1827 – 13 September 1911) was a transit pioneer in Australia. Early life Rutherford was born in Amherst, Erie County, New York, U.S.A., second son of James Rutherford and his wife Hetty, ''née'' Milligan. J. E. L. James Todd Rutherford (born October 10, 1970 in Columbia, South Carolina) is an American politician and Democratic Party (United States), Democratic member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing the 74th District since 1999. He is the Minority Leader of the House. Early life and education Rutherford graduated from W.J. Keenan High School in 1988. Rutherford earned his bachelor's degree from Howard University in 1992. He then worked as Legislative Assistant to Congressman Robin Tallon before earning his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1996. James Earl Rutherford (born February 17, 1949) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender and front office executive. He is the president of hockey operations of the Vancouver Canucks. Prior to his position with the Canucks, Rutherford held the same position with the Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes for almost two decades, assuming the position in June 1994 and stepping down from that position in April 2014. He then joined the Pittsburgh Penguins as general manager, having been named to that position on June 6, 2014, and resigning on January 27, 2021, citing "personal reasons". James Rankin Rutherford (1882 – 20 September 1967) was a Scottish Liberal Party politician. He was the Provost of Kirkintilloch 1931–33 and Convener of the County Council 1939–1945. James Warren Rutherford (22 August 1875 – 27 February 1939) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in McKay's Corners in Kent County, Ontario, becoming a physician and surgeon. Rutherford attended Chatham Collegiate Institute, the University of Toronto then University College London for postgraduate studies. He was first elected to Parliament at the Kent riding in the 1926 general election after an unsuccessful campaign there in 1925. Rutherford was re-elected in 1930 and 1935. During the 1935 campaign, Rutherford sustained a fracture in the neck area after his car overturned near Ridgetown, Ontario. His vehicle travelled on loose gravel which led his vehicle into a ditch. Rutherford was unable to continue his medical practice after this, although his injuries healed to a partial extent.
