James Patrick (ice Hockey)
James Patrick (born June 14, 1963) is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player. He is currently the head coach for the Winnipeg Ice of the Western Hockey League (WHL). Playing career After a successful collegiate career at the University of North Dakota, Patrick represented Canada at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. After the Olympics, Patrick signed his first professional contract on March 5, 1984 with the New York Rangers, and made his NHL debut two days later in Minnesota. Patrick scored his first NHL goal on March 17, 1984, in Philadelphia. Patrick enjoyed ten productive seasons in New York before being traded to the Hartford Whalers and then to the Calgary Flames during the 1993–94 season. After several years in Calgary, Patrick signed with the Buffalo Sabres as a free agent after the 1997–98 season. The 1997–98 NHL season was the 81st regular season of the National Hockey League. The Stanley Cup champions were the Detroit Red Wings, who swept the Washington Capitals in four games. League business On June 25, 1997, the National Hockey League approved of four expansion franchises for Nashville, Atlanta, Columbus, and Saint Paul expanding the league to 30 teams by 2000. This was the first season for the Carolina Hurricanes, who were previously known as the Hartford Whalers. Nolan Patrick
Nolan James Patrick (born September 19, 1998) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player for the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted second overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Junior As Patrick became more involved in hockey, his father transformed their family garage into a home gym and he trained with his uncle during the summer. He played AAA Bantam Hockey League Division 1 ice hockey with the Winnipeg Hawks during its 2012–13 season, where he recorded 75 points in 19 games. He missed nearly half of the season due to a shoulder injury, but nonetheless was regarded as a highly touted prospect. Steve Patrick
Stephen Gary Patrick (born February 4, 1961) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was drafted in the first round, 20th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. Patrick played 250 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Sabres, New York Rangers, and Quebec Nordiques between 1980 and 1986. On December 6, 1984, the Sabres traded Patrick and Jim Wiemer to the New York Rangers in exchange for Chris Renaud and Dave Maloney. His brother is former player and current Winnipeg Ice head coach James Patrick, and their father Stephen Patrick played football for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. Winnipeg Blue Bombers
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are a professional Canadian football team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Blue Bombers compete in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member club of the league's West division. They play their home games at IG Field. Stephen Patrick
Stephen Clifford Patrick (''né'' Patrebka, March 24, 1932 – January 11, 2014) was a Canadian politician and athlete. Patrick was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1962 to 1977. Career Patrick played with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers football team for thirteen years. He became President and General-Manager of Patrick Agencies Ltd. (now known as Patrick Realty Ltd.), and was a Director of the Winnipeg Real Estate Bld. and the Pioneer Fraternal Association. He was first elected to the Manitoba legislature in the provincial election of 1962, defeating incumbent Progressive Conservative George Johnson by 239 votes in the west-end Winnipeg riding of Assiniboia. The Kootenay Ice (officially stylized as ICE) were a major junior ice hockey team based in Cranbrook, British Columbia, and competed in the Western Hockey League (WHL). The team played its home games at Western Financial Place. The franchise was owned by the Chynoweth family from 1995 until it was sold to Winnipeg-based company 50 Below Sports and Entertainment in 2017. The Ice moved to Winnipeg in 2019 and now play as the Winnipeg Ice. Dallas Stars
The Dallas Stars are a professional ice hockey team based in Dallas. Lindy Ruff
Lindy Cameron Ruff (born February 17, 1960) is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach who is the head coach for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL). Ruff was previously the head coach of the Dallas Stars of the NHL, and also the head coach of the Buffalo Sabres from 1997 to 2013, with whom he won the Jack Adams Award in 2006. During his playing career, Ruff played in the NHL for the Sabres and New York Rangers, the former of which he captained. Frankfurt Lions
The Frankfurt Lions were a German professional men's ice hockey club from Frankfurt, Germany that played in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. The club ceased operations in 2010 due to financial difficulty. History The hockey team was founded as a section of the renowned sports club ''Eintracht Frankfurt'' in 1959. After the section split from the club on March 5, 1991, the hockey team was renamed the Frankfurter ESC "Die Löwen" (meaning ''The Lions''). When the DEL formed in 1994, the team became known as the Frankfurt Lions.
