James O'Donnell (rugby Union)
James O'Donnell (1860 – 1 May 1942) was a New Zealand rugby union player. A forward, he was a member of the first New Zealand national team in 1884, and later played for New South Wales. Early life Born in County Kilkenny in Ireland in 1860, O'Donnell left Ireland with two of his brothers and a sister to escape their "tyrannical" father. Another brother fled the country after cutting off an English soldier's ear. Settling in New Zealand, O'Donnell is thought to have served in the police force and worked as a teacher. Piltown
Piltown (), historically known as Ballypoyle, is a village in County Kilkenny, Ireland. It lies on the R698 regional road, which was the N24 national primary road before the locality was bypassed in 2002. Approaching Piltown from Carrick-on-Suir in the west is the landmark of "the Tower" (Sham Castle) which forms a roundabout in the road. This monument, dedicated to the son of a local landowner, dates back to the Napoleonic era. The son was enlisted in the War. During this time he went missing and he was presumed dead. His father instructed the tower be built in his honour. It was never completed as the son returned during construction. Today its upper section serves as a water tower. Piltown is also home to Ireland's largest horticultural and agricultural college, Kildalton College. David Storey (politician)
Sir David Storey (18 August 1856 – 27 July 1924) was an Irish-born Australian politician and businessman. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1894 to 1920 and the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1920 until his death in 1924, representing the Free Trade Party and its successors the Liberal Reform Party and Nationalist Party. He was Minister of Public Health in the Nationalist ministry of William Holman in 1919–20. Henry Roberts (rugby Union)
Henry Roberts (1862 – 1 January 1949) was a New Zealand rugby union player. A halfback, Roberts represented Wellington and Canterbury at a provincial level, and was a member of the first New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, in 1884. He played seven matches for the All Blacks, none of them internationals. His son Teddy, also a halfback, was a member of the All Blacks in 1913, making them the team's first father–son representatives. Following the death of James O'Donnell in 1942, Roberts held the distinction of being the oldest living All Black.
