James Hoggan (athlete)
James Vernon Hoggan (24 March 1959 – 22 April 2020) was an Australian Paralympic amputee athletics competitor. At the 1984 Summer Paralympics, 1984 New York Games, he won a silver medal in the Men's High Jump A4. Personal Hoggan's father Colin moved to Australia from Scotland due to more opportunities as a professional runner. His father won the 1956 Stawell Gift mile. Hoggan attended Wangaratta Technical College from 1973 to 1977. On his eighteenth birthday, Hoggan suffered severe injuries when his motorbike collided with a utility vehicle. After being in hospital for 18 months and 22 operations, Hoggan decided to have the lower part of his right leg amputated. Two months after the amputation, he had a prosthesis fitted and returned to work at Valchem in Wangaratta. He had the nickname 'Peg Leg'. Nick Morris (basketball)
Nicholas Hugh "Nick" Morris, OAM (born 16 August 1971) is an Australian wheelchair basketball player. He was born in the Victorian town of Wangaratta. He was a member of the Australian team that won gold at the 1996 Summer Paralympics in Atlanta, for which he received a Medal of the Order of Australia. He was also a member of the Australian wheelchair basketball squad at the 2000 Summer Paralympics. Morris was injured in a motorcycle accident at age 16 and credits his involvement in sport as the key to his rehabilitation. Morris received an Australian Sports Medal in 2000 for his many years service to the Paralympic movement as a Basketball athlete. In his professional capacity, Morris sat on the Australian Standards Committee for Access provisions (AS1428) and is a director of Morris Goding Accessibility Consulting. The FESPIC Games or the Far East and South Pacific Games for the Disabled, was a multi-sport event in Asia and the South Pacific region which is considered to be a precursor to the Asian Para Games, as two of its edition games in 1999 (7th) and 2002 (8th) were held parallel to the 1998 Asian Games and the 2002 Asian Games. The event which started in 1975 was held nine times, and last contested in December 2006 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
