James William Gibson
James William Gibson (1888 – January 28, 1965) was a Scottish-born political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Morse from 1946 to 1960 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) member. He was born in Edinburgh, the son of Mark Gibson, and came to Canada with his parents in 1904, settling on a farm near Caron. In 1917, he married Isabelle Thomson. Gibson served as secretary-treasurer for the local school district, as a member of the Caron Wheat Pool committee, as a director for the Moose Jaw Co-operative Association and as a member of the council for the rural municipality of Caron. James Gibson (seaman)
James Gibson (1706 – 1752) was a merchant in the British colonies of Jamaica and the Province of Massachusetts Bay. During King George's War (1744–1748), William Shirley, the Governor of Massachusetts, debated whether to siege and capture the French fortress of Louisburg on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. According to Gibson's journal, he convinced Governor Shirley that the siege would be successful and used his personal wealth to provide 300 soldiers for the campaign. Gibson wrote an account of the Siege of Louisburg, and it was published in London in late 1745. Early life James was born on April 1, 1706, in Boston, Massachusetts to James and Mary Gibson. His father was a mariner and purchased a tavern called "Marlborough Arms" in 1711, located at the corner of Kilby and State streets adjacent to Bunch-of-Grapes. James Robert Gibson (born 19 February 1980 in Bellshill) is a Scottish retired footballer. Career Gibson began his career with Rangers, and made three appearances before being signed by Alan Kernaghan for Clyde. Gibson made his Clyde debut against Brechin City in August 2003. Gibson had a very good first season, and was an integral part of the side that missed promotion to the Scottish Premier League by 1 point. He scored 4 goals in 29 appearances. Gibson scored in Clyde's derby victory over Partick Thistle on the opening day of the 2004-05 season, but was shown a red card in the closing stages. Gibson surprised many fans when he opted to jump down a division to join recently relegated Partick Thistle in June 2005. Gibson was captain of Thistle under manager Dick Campbell. James Davidson Gibson (12 June 1901 – 1 January 1978) was a Scottish footballer who played for Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, Ashfield, Partick Thistle and Aston Villa. His career spanned 19 years, from 1917 to 1936. Career Gibson played right-half and was regarded as one of the best players in that position at that time. He played almost 200 games for Partick before a transfer to Aston Villa for a then-record fee of £7,500. He made 227 appearances for Aston Villa, during which time they were runners-up in the Football League twice ( 1930–31 and 1932–33) but were relegated in his final season with the club, 1935–36. James Gibson, MBE is an English former competitive swimmer and breaststroke who represented Great Britain in the Olympics, FINA world championships and European championships, and England in the Commonwealth Games. He is a former world, European and Commonwealth champion in the men's 50-metre breaststroke event, and now serves as the head swimming coach at the Energy Standard Swim Club. __NOTOC__ Born in Chelmsford, Essex, and raised in Witham. James Burton Gibson (24 June 1889 – 5 September 1915) was a Scottish professional footballer who played in the Scottish League for Raith Rovers as a half back. Personal life Gibson was educated at the University of St Andrews, where he played for the football team and graduated with an M.A. Prior to the First World War, he emigrated to New Zealand and became a teacher at Napier Boys' High School. On 18 January 1915, six months after the outbreak of the First World War, Gibson enlisted as a private in the Auckland Infantry Battalion of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. On 4 September 1915, whilst fighting in the Gallipoli campaign, Gibson was wounded in the ribs and chest by shrapnel and was evacuated to the hospital ship . He died of wounds the following day and was buried at sea on 6 September. James Gibson (born 23 April 1989 in Irvine, Scotland) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a left back for Maybole in the Ayrshire District League. Originally signed with Hamilton Academical, his playing career in the Scottish Football League and Scottish Premier League with was plagued by persistent knee injuries. Gibson's contract with Accies was not renewed in 2011 and he signed for Junior side Maybole in January 2012. Career James Gibson's footballing career was short with Hamilton Athletic. He made 43 appearances for the club. He played left back and occasionally midfield. His best moments were of him scoring his two goals over his five-year career.
