James Ford (American Football)
James Leon Ford (born September 11, 1949) is a former American football running back in the National Football League for the New Orleans Saints. He also was a member of the New York Stars and Charlotte Hornets in the World Football League. He played college football at Texas Southern University. Early years Ford attended Stanton College Preparatory School in Jacksonville, Florida, where he practiced football, basketball, track and swimming. He accepted a football scholarship from Texas Southern University, where he developed until late in his college career. As a senior in 1970, he registered 62 carries for 295 yards and 2 touchdowns. Professional career Ford was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the thirteenth round (337th overall) of the 1971 NFL Draft. He was waived on September 13. James Ford (1797–1877) was an English cleric, known as a translator of Dante. Life He was the son of Sir Richard Ford, police magistrate in London and Member of Parliament, and his wife Marianne Booth, an artist and daughter of Benjamin Booth; Richard Ford (1796–1858) was his elder brother. Jamie Ford (born July 9, 1968) is an American author. He is best known for his debut novel, '' Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.'' The book spent 130 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller List, and was also awarded best "Adult Fiction" book at the 2010 Asian/Pacific American Awards for Literature. James Henry Ford (August 23, 1941 – November 18, 2007) was an American singer-songwriter originally from Johnson County, Kentucky. After living in New Orleans, Ford moved to Los Angeles, and finally settled in Fort Bragg, California. His music is a mixture of soul, country and folk. He wrote and directed the short films ''Reconnaissance'' (2007), ''Gotta Go'' (2008), ''Wiffle Ball'' (2008), ''Timmy Text Message'' (2009), and ''White Zin'' (2010). James Allan Ford
James Allan Ford CB MC (10 June 1920 – 30 March 2009) was a Scottish writer, soldier and senior civil servant. Born in Auchtermuchty, Fife, Ford was brought up in Edinburgh and educated at the Royal High School. In 1938 he entered the civil service, worked in the Ministry of Labour and Inland Revenue. During the Second World War he served with the Royal Scots in Hong Kong, with the rank of captain. When Hong Kong was taken by the Japanese, Ford and his brother Douglas were captured and held as prisoners-of-war. Douglas was executed, and James was not released until 1945. He received the Military Cross for his service. Returning to Edinburgh, Ford rejoined the civil service and studied law part-time. From 1966 to 1969 he was Registrar General for Scotland, and went on to the Scottish Office. He was awarded the CB in the 1978 Birthday Honours, shortly before his retirement. James Ishmael Ford (Zeno Myoun, Roshi) is an American Zen Buddhist priest and a retired Unitarian Universalist minister. He was born in Oakland, California on July 17, 1948. He earned a BA in psychology from Sonoma State University, as well as an M.Div. and an MA in the Philosophy of Religion, both from the Pacific School of Religion. James Hobart Ford (May 22, 1829 – January 12, 1867) was a Union colonel and brevet brigadier general during the American Civil War, notable for his contributions in the Trans-Mississippi Theater of the war. Early life James Hobart Ford was born in Painesville, Ohio, in 1829. His uncle was David Tod, U.S. Minister to Brazil and governor of Ohio during the Civil War. Much of Ford's early life is unclear, but sometime before 1861 he moved from Ohio to Colorado. He married in May 1850 to Arabella Stambaugh, daughter of John F. Stambaugh and Sara Beaver.
