James Egan (artist)
James Egan (23 May 1929 - 28 July 2017) was an Australian artist. His work has featured in exhibitions around the world. History Egan was born in Melbourne, Australia. From the age of 14 to 19, Egan worked as a boxer and came into a contact with an Englishman on the run from the law. This Englishman, name unknown, taught James how to draw and the arts in general as he himself had previously learnt at the Slade Art School in London. Egan's inspiration has come from places including the Australian outback and bushland to the third world countries of Mexico and Cambodia, as well as some of the poorest areas of Spain, England and the United States. James Egan (engraver)
James Egan (1799–1842) was an Irish mezzotint engraver. Life Egan was born in County Roscommon. He was employed by Samuel William Reynolds, the mezzotint engraver, at first as little more than an errand-boy, but later in laying his mezzotint grounds. Egan set up a business of ground-laying for engravers, while he studied in order to become an engraver himself. Becoming consumptive, he had eight years' struggle with declining health; and died at Pentonville, 2 October 1842, aged 43. Egan, who married young, left a family, for whom a subscription was raised by his friends. Works His last plate was 'English Hospitality in the Olden Time,' after George Cattermole. James Egan Moulton
James Egan Moulton (4 January 1841 – 9 May 1909) was an English-born Australian Methodist minister and headmaster and school president. Early life Moulton was born in North Shields, Northumberland. Many members of his family were Methodist ministers and he attended the Wesleyan school Kingswood in Bath. In 1863 he was the founding headmaster of Newington College while awaiting a posting to Tonga. Before leaving, he married Emma Knight and they had three sons and three daughters together. Tongan ministry In Tonga he presided over the Methodist church and established Tupou College, patronised by King George Tupou I. During his time in Tonga, a schism formed within the church leading to the creation of the Free Church of Tonga. Throughout the dispute, Moulton managed to stay on good terms with the new movement.
