Jalan Taiping-Kuala Sepetang
Federal Route 74, or Jalan Taiping–Kuala Sepetang, is a federal road in Perak, Malaysia. The 17.1 km (10.6 mi) roads connects Taiping to Kuala Sepetang (formerly Port Weld). The road was built at the site of the first railway line in Malaysia from Taiping to Port Weld in 1885. Route background The Kilometre Zero of the Federal Route 74 starts at Kuala Sepetang (formerly Port Weld). History The road used to be a main railway line of Taiping–Port Weld, the first railway line in Malaysia. Construction of the railway began in 1884 and was completed in 1885. The railway line starting from Port Weld passing Jebong, Simpang Halt and finally Taiping. Service began on 1 February 1885, lasting until 1941. Taiping, Perak
Taiping (, Jawi: ; zh, t=太平, , Hokkien: Thài-pêng; ta, தைப்பிங்) is a town located in Larut, Matang and Selama District, Perak, Malaysia. It is located approximately northwest of Ipoh, the capital of Perak, and southeast of George Town, Penang. With a population of 245,182 (in 2013), it is the second largest town in Perak after Ipoh, the state capital. Taiping took over Kuala Kangsar's role as the state capital from 1876 to 1937, but was then replaced by Ipoh. Its growth slowed after that, but in recent years the town has been developing rapidly again. Perak State Museum is located in the town. Bukit Kayu Hitam is a small town in Kubang Pasu District, Kedah, Malaysia. It is situated near the Malaysia–Thailand border and the main and busiest road border crossing between Malaysia and Thailand is located here. North–South Expressway Northern Route
The North–South Expressway Northern Route is an interstate controlled-access highway running parallel to the northwestern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The expressway forms the north section of the North–South Expressway, passing through the northwestern states of Kedah, Penang, Perak and Selangor. The expressway begins at the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint in Kedah where the Malaysia–Thailand border lies, and ends at Bukit Lanjan in Selangor where the expressway interchanges with the New Klang Valley Expressway. The expressway is operated by PLUS Expressways. The expressway runs in a north–south direction close to the northwestern coast of the peninsula, connecting several major towns including Alor Setar, Butterworth, Taiping, Ipoh and Rawang while also providing access to several rural villages on its path. The Zoo Taiping (English: 'Taiping Zoo') is a zoological park located at Bukit Larut, Taiping, Perak, Malaysia.
