Jaime (1999 Film)
''Jaime'' is a 1999 Portuguese drama film directed by António-Pedro Vasconcelos. It was released on 9 April 1999. Plot A woman takes her young son, leaves her husband and moves in with her lover. The boy, desperate to get his parents back together, becomes convinced that if only he can get his father's stolen motorcycle back everything will be fine again, so he sets out to get enough money to buy his father a new one. unsentimental tale about underage street kids in Portugal. The film opens with a teenage worker at a bakery getting dumped off at a hospital after losing his finger. The boss instructs the youth's father to tell the doctors that he lost his digit playing with a knife, but fearing an investigation, the boss subsequently dumps his other underage workers, including 13-year old Jaime (Saul Fonseca). António-Pedro Vasconcelos
António-Pedro Saraiva de Barros e Vasconcelos GCIH (born 10 March 1939 in Leiria) is a Portuguese film director. Personal life Vasconcelos is the middle of three sons of Guilherme de Barros e Vasconcelos (Celorico de Basto, Britelo, 28 December 1902 - 1984), a lawyer and a nobleman of the Royal Household, and Palmira Henriqueta de Carvalho Saraiva (b. Portalegre, 28 August 1907). In 1961, Vasconcelos married Maria Helena Marques (born 26 July 1939), whom he later divorced. His second wife, Maria Teresa de Carvalho de Albuquerque Schmidt, and had four children: Pedro Jaime Marque, Guilherme Infante de Lacerda, Patrícia Marques and Diogo Schmidt. He is a known supporter of S.L. Benfica. The Caminhos do Cinema Português ( pt, Paths for Portuguese Cinema) is the only festival of exclusively Portuguese cinema, held in Portugal. It is a project of the "Centro de Estudos Cinematográficos" (Centre for Cinematographic Study) of the Associação Académica de Coimbra. It is considered the sixth film festival of Portugal, and one of the few festivals held outside the greater Lisbon and greater Oporto areas. The European Film Awards (or European Film Academy Awards) have been presented annually since 1988 by the European Film Academy to recognize excellence in European cinematic achievements.
