Jackson Park is a park located on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois. It was originally designed in 1871 by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, then greatly remodeled in 1893 to serve as the site of the World's Columbian Exposition, leaving it as one of the largest and most historically significant parks in the city. A number of features attest to the legacy of the fair, including a Japanese garden, the Statue of ''The'' ''Republic'', and the Museum of Science and Industry. As part of the Woodlawn community area, it extends along Lake Michigan and borders onto the neighborhoods of Hyde Park and South Shore. The parkland was first developed as part of an unrealized addition to the Chicago park and boulevard system, whose other remnants include Washington Park and Midway Plaisance. Jackson Park (Negaunee, Michigan)
The Jackson Mine is an open pit iron mine in Negaunee, Michigan, extracting resources from the Marquette Iron Range. The first iron mine in the Lake Superior region, Jackson Mine was designated as a Michigan State Historic Site in 1956 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. The Lake Superior Mining Institute said, the mine "is attractive in the iron ore region of Michigan and the entire Lake Superior region, because of the fact it was here that the first discovery of iron ore was made, here the first mining was done, and from its ore the first iron was manufactured." Multiple other mines soon followed the Jackson's lead, establishing the foundation of the economy of the entire region. Jackson Park is a Milwaukee County park in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. History Jackson Park is includes a parcel of land originally purchased by the City of Milwaukee in 1907. It was known as Reynolds Grove at that time. It was renamed Jackson Park, after President Andrew Jackson, in 1910. Clearing of the land became a priority in the 1920s as picnic use dominated the park. Planning for athletics facilities led to the purchase of an additional 53-acre parcel. Play areas for children were added, prior to the construction of an outdoor pool in 1932. The pool was the first outdoor facility in the City of Milwaukee. A lagoon connected to the Kinnickinnic River was excavated by Works Progress Administration laborers in the 1930s. In 1950, a pavilion for boating and skating on the lagoon was completed. Jackson Park (Seattle)
Jackson Park is a public park and golf course in north Seattle, Washington, occupying most of the space between N.E. 145th Street on the north, N.E. 130th Street on the south, 5th Avenue N.E. on the west, and 15th Avenue N.E. on the east. It opened to the public in 1928. Jackson Park has both a nine-hole par three course and a full eighteen-hole long course. It offers amenities such as a pro shop, cafe and bar, cart rentals, driving range, and putting practice greens. It underwent renovations in 2001 to allow Thornton Creek to flow through in a more environmentally beneficial way. This renovation added much water to the front nine and increased the difficulty significantly. The course also offers junior camps that run throughout the summer. The official course record is 62 and was set by amateur golfer, and former Seattle Mariners pitcher, Erik Hanson in the 2015 Seattle Amateur. Jackson Park is a park south of Downtown Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Acquired in 1929, with the persistence of then mayor Cecil E. Jackson, Windsor City Council voted in favour of purchasing the land from the Jockey Club. At the same meeting where the land was purchased, city council decided to name the new park after their mayor. Jackson Park has long been considered one of Windsor's most beautiful parks and attractions. It is most known for its yearly display annual garden beds and a large array of perennial plants.
