Jackson's Wharf
''Jackson's Wharf'' (1999–2000) was a New Zealand television series created by Gavin Strawhan and Rachel Lang. Set in a fictional coastal town, the series told the story of a sibling rivalry between brothers Frank, the town policeman the younger brother, and Ben Jackson, a big-town lawyer. After inheriting the local pub from his recently deceased father, Ben returns to the small town with his family, with his arrival bringing its fair share of drama and conflict to the small township. Ben is married to Mahina who is part of a Māori family 'who go back on the peninsula long before any Jacksons arrived'. Rachel Lang
Rachel Lang is a New Zealand television screenwriter, executive producer and actor. She co-created the television series '' Outrageous Fortune, Go Girls, This Is Not My Life, Mercy Peak, Nothing Trivial, The Blue Rose'', and ''Filthy Rich''. She was awarded an MNZM in the 2017 Queen's Birthday Honours for services to television. Career Lang graduated from Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School in 1982 with a Diploma in Acting. Lang's first work in script writing was as a script editor at TVNZ in the 1980s. She worked on episodes of ''Shark in the Park'', ''Open House'' and movie ''Mark II''. From 1992 until 2000 she worked on ''Shortland Street,'' starting as a story liner then moving on to roles as story editor and executive producer. Niki Caro
Nikola Jean Caro (born 20 September 1966) is a New Zealand film director and screenwriter. Her 2002 film ''Whale Rider'' was critically praised and won a number of awards at international film festivals. She directed the 2020 live action version of Disney's ''Mulan'', making her the second female and the second New Zealand director hired by Disney to direct a film budgeted at over $100 million. Caro's works ranged from music videos, commercials, television dramas, and films, etc. Early life Caro was born in Wellington, New Zealand. She attended Kadimah College, Auckland, then Diocesan School for Girls, where she received an alumni award. As of 2017, New Zealand has relaunched a standalone New Zealand Television Awards after a five-year hiatus. David Geary
David Geary (born 1963) is a Māori writer from New Zealand who is known for his plays ''The Learners Stand, Lovelocks Dream Run'' and ''Pack of Girls.'' For television he has written for New Zealand series Shortland Street and Jackson's Wharf. Early years Born in Feilding, New Zealand, Geary is Māori and affiliates to the iwi Nga Mahanga and Taranaki. He grew up in Rangiwahia in the Manawatū region, his mother was a teacher. Geary went to Palmerston North Boys' High School, after that he went to university in Wellington (Victoria University of Wellington) and began a law degree although changed to arts. In 1987 Geary graduated from the acting diploma at Toi Whakaari New Zealand Drama School in Wellington. Nicola Kawana
Nicola Kāwana (born 1970) is a New Zealand actress, best known for playing Huia Samuels on the longest running New Zealand television series ''Shortland Street''. Other roles include ''Mercy Peak'', ''Jackson's Wharf'', Lollie in ''The Man Who Lost His Head'' and “Mad” Maggie in ''Apex Legends''.
