Jackie Mitchell
Virne Beatrice "Jackie" Mitchell Gilbert (August 29, 1913 – January 7, 1987) was one of the first female pitchers in professional baseball history. She was 17 years old when she pitched for the Chattanooga Lookouts Class AA minor league baseball team in an exhibition game against the New York Yankees, and struck out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in succession. Early life Jackie Mitchell was born August 29, 1913 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Virne Wall Mitchell and Dr. Joseph Mitchell. When she learned how to walk, her father took her to the baseball diamond and taught her the basics of the game. Her next door neighbor, Dazzy Vance, taught her to pitch and showed her his "drop ball", a type of breaking ball. Vance was a major league pitcher and would eventually be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. At the age of 17, Mitchell began playing for the Engelettes, a women's team in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and went on to attend a baseball training camp in Atlanta, Georgia. In d ...

Jackie Mitchell (born July 30, 1976 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina) is a former American and Canadian football linebacker who played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League from 2000 to 2006. Mitchell was signed as a free agent by Saskatchewan in 2000 after being released from Edmonton Eskimos training camp. He was recognized as an All-Star in the 2003 CFL season. He attended the Miami Dolphins' (National Football League) training camp in 1999, signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2002 and released, and signed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2003 and released. Swimming At The 1980 Summer Paralympics
Swimming at the 1980 Summer Paralympics consisted of 192 events. In certain events, there were only three competitors, thus guaranteeing each a medal upon successfully completing the race. In others, there were fewer than three; in the women's 4x100 metre freestyle relay C-D, for instance, the Canadian team swam unopposed, obtaining gold upon completing the event. The women's 3x50 metre medley relay CP C was the only event in which no medal was awarded. The United States team were the only competitors, but were disqualified during the race; thus, no team completed the event. Jacqui Mitchell
Jacquelyn M. "Jacqui" Mitchell (born 1936) Mitchell... is as utterly self disciplined at the table as she is away from it... She passes much of her time at the table doing embroidery as though determined to remain detached, but those who trifle with her do so at their peril. If her bidding sometimes appears orthodox, or a little too conservative, her card play and defence are of the very highest quality.
