Jack Walsh (Gaelic Footballer)
Jack Walsh (born 1903) was a Gaelic footballer from Asdee, County Kerry. A left full back, he played with Kerry from 1924 to 1934. He won 5 Munster Senior Championships, 6 All-Ireland Senior Championships and 4 National Leagues during his career. Life and career Walsh was educated at Asdee National School, then St. Michael's College in Listowel. After a trial game, he was picked for Kerry in 1924, playing in the All-Ireland final against Dublin, which Kerry won by one point. His second All-Ireland victory was in 1926, when Kerry beat Kildare in the final after a replay. During this match Walsh switched to left full back to replace an ill team-mate, a position he then held until his retirement from inter-county football in 1934. Walsh was a member of the Kerry team for each of their "four in a row" All-Ireland titles in 1929, 1930, 1931 and 1932. Asdee
Asdee or Astee ( meaning the "black waterfall") is a small village in County Kerry, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. History Settlement in the village dates back to at least the mid-11th century, while the ringforts, located close to the bridge at the bottom of the village, were built between 600AD and 900AD. At the turn of the 12th century, the O'Connors, Kings of Kerry, moved from their Doon Point (Ballybunion) stronghold to ''Clár an Easa Duibhe'' (meaning "The Plain of the Black Waterfall"), where the village is now situated. This move was carried out to facilitate an alliance between the O'Connors and the O'Briens, who were Kings of Thomond and the descendants of Brian Boru, the last High King of Ireland. The calmer waters around ''Clár an Easa Duibhe'' allowed the O'Connors a safer passage across to the O'Brien stronghold of what is now County Clare. GAA Interprovincial Championship
The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). Cavan GAA
The Cavan County Board ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae an Chabháin) or Cavan GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Cavan.
