Jack Sheridan (1905–1967) was an American poet and soapbox orator particularly known for his participation in the Bughouse Square Debates, the Dil Pickle Club and the College of Complexes. He was an activist in the Industrial Workers of the World. Jack was attracted to hobohemia whilst still at school. He soon became a regular attendee at the Dil Pickle Club. In 1928 he went to Europe via New York City staying primarily in Paris. John F. Sheridan (1862 – November 2, 1914) was an American umpire in Major League Baseball. In his 30-year career as an official, he worked 18 seasons between 1890 and 1914 in three major leagues. Several of Sheridan's contemporaries considered him to be the best major league umpire. He pioneered the crouching stance used by modern umpires at home plate. In 1946 Sheridan was named to the Honor Rolls of Baseball of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Early life Sheridan was born in Decatur, Illinois. His mother Bridget was born in Ireland. During his childhood, Jack's family moved to San Jose, California, where he made his home thereafter. He enjoyed a brief career in the minor leagues as a second baseman. In 1883, Sheridan secured an advance of funds by convincing the manager of a Chattanooga minor league team that he would be an asset to the team. Jack Sheridan (hurler)
Jack Sheridan (born 1997) is an Irish hurler who plays for Kildare Senior Championship club Naas and at inter-county level with the Kildare senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a forward. Career Sheridan first came to hurling prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Naas club. He eventually joined the club's senior team and was part of their 2019 County Championship-winning team. Sheridan first appeared at inter-county level with the Kildare minor team in 2015 before later lining out with the under-21 side. He was straight out of the minor grade when he was drafted onto the Kildare senior hurling team for the 2016 National Hurling League. Sheridan has since won two Christy Ring Cup titles.
