Jack Howe (footballer, Born 1915)
John Robert Howe (7 October 1915 – 5 April 1987) was a professional association football, footballer who gained three caps for England national football team, England in the late 1940s. He was a part of the Derby County F.C., Derby County side that won the 1946 FA Cup Final. Playing career Jack Howe was seen as one of the best two footed full-backs in Britain for his era. Standing six foot tall, Howe could kick a ball equally hard and accurately with either foot. Howe started his playing career with his hometown club, Hartlepool, in 1934. He played 16 times in his first season with the club. Howe transferred to Derby County in 1936. Howe made his debut as Derby were finishing eight points behind champions Sunderland and was a regular until the Second World War when he joined the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders and guested for Hearts, Falkirk, Aberdeen, and St Mirren. Jack Howe (architect)
Jack Howe (24 February 1911 – 3 December 2003) was an architect and industrial designer who worked on Impington Village College as an architect and the Chubb cash dispenser MD2 as an industrial designer. Early life Howe was born in Enfield, Middlesex on 24 February 1911, and was a butcher's son. He attended Enfield Grammar School and studied architecture at the Regent Street Polytechnic. Architecture career Howe worked for Joseph Emberton, and from 1934 onwards for Maxwell Fry, where he worked on Impington Village College and the Westminster Electricity Showroom in Regent Street. Following Walter Gropius's move to the United States in 1937, Howe oversaw the construction of Impington Village College. At the outbreak of the World War II, he worked with Holland, Hannen & Cubitts for the Royal Ordnance factories at Wrexham and Ranskill. Jackie Howe
John Robert "Jackie" Howe (26 July 1861 (?) – 21 July 1920) was a legendary Australian sheep shearer at the end of the 19th century. He shot to fame in pre-Federation Australia in 1892 when he broke the daily and weekly shearing records across the colonies. Howe was born at Killarney near Warwick, Queensland. On 10 October 1892, Howe had shorn 321 sheep in seven hours and 40 minutes at Alice Downs station, near Blackall, Queensland. This was a faster tally than any other shearer had achieved before. In the week beforehand, Howe also set the weekly record, shearing 1,437 sheep in 44 hours and 30 minutes. Howe's daily record was beaten by Ted Reick in 1950, but Reick was using machine shears, while Howe's hand shears were little more than scissors. According to the Australian Dictionary of Biography, Howe's weekly record stood unbeaten as of 2005. In October 2015, Howe's record was reported as still unbeaten after 123 years.
