John Douglas Roberton (26 April 1927 – 18 December 2008) was an England, English actor best known for his portrayals in the Carry On (franchise), ''Carry On'' films. Early life Douglas was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, into a theatrical family; his father was a theatre producer and his brother, Bill Roberton, became a theatre director. His mother was so keen that he be a Geordie that, according to Douglas, although they had settled in London, He spent his early years on a farm in Meriden, West Midlands, Meriden. The family later moved to Blackpool to get away from the bombing in the World War II, Second World War. He is known for his work with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Patti Smith, Cheap Trick, and the New York Dolls, among other rock artists in the 1970s and 1980s; notably he produced three successful albums for Aerosmith. Early life and education Jack Douglas was born in the Bronx in 1947, New York City. He was trained at the Institute of Audio Research and was a member of its first graduating class. Career Starting out as a folk musician and performer, he worked on Robert F. Kennedy's 1964 senatorial campaign as a songwriter. Douglas then moved to England and joined a succession of bands before returning to New York to attend the Institute of Audio Research. Radio On radio, he was a writer for Red Skelton, Bob Hope and the situation comedy, '' Tommy Riggs and Betty Lou'' (1938–46), in which Riggs switched back and forth from his natural baritone to the voice of a seven-year-old girl. Jon Alexander "Jack" Douglas (September 10, 1936 – July 27, 2010) was an amateur American tennis player and college football quarterback. Early life Douglas was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, the only child of Dortha and Gordon Douglas. In 1944 he and his family moved to Santa Monica, California. He graduated from Santa Monica High School, where he played football, tennis, and basketball. College sports He attended Stanford University, where he was Stanford's first All-American in tennis in 1957, and earned the honor again in 1958, when he was runner-up in both singles and doubles competition at the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship. Douglas was also a quarterback on Stanford's football team. He produced and hosted a variety of travel and adventure television series, ultimately establishing the style typically used by travel shows today. Douglas also pioneered in producing television shows in color, rather than in black and white, before the practice became common. He would pay the extra cost to shoot his films in color, even when they were still being projected in black and white on television.
