Jack's The Boy
''Jack's the Boy'' is a 1932 British comedy film directed by Walter Forde and starring Jack Hulbert, Cicely Courtneidge, Francis Lister and Peter Gawthorne. It became well known for its song "The Flies Crawled Up the Window", sung by Hulbert, which was released as a record and proved a major hit. The film was released in the U.S. as ''Night and Day''. Walter Forde
Walter Forde (born Thomas Seymour Woolford, 21 April 1898 – 7 January 1984) was a British actor, screenwriter and Film director, director. Born in Lambeth, south London in 1898, he directed over fifty films between 1919 from the silent era through to 1949 in the sound film, sound era. He died in Los Angeles, California in 1984. Forde was the son of the music hall comedian Tom Seymour. During the 1920s, he was a silent film comedian, acting in a series of shorts before shifting into directing feature films. Emerging as an established film director in the 1930s, he directed films for Gainsborough Pictures and Ealing Studios. Scotland Yard (officially New Scotland Yard) is the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police, the territorial police force responsible for policing Greater London's 32 boroughs, but not the City of London, the square mile that forms London's historic and primary financial centre. Arthur Rigby (born Arthur Turner; 27 September 1900 – 25 April 1971) was an English actor and writer. He was best known for playing Sgt Flint on the TV series ''Dixon of Dock Green'', appearing in 253 episodes from 1955 to 1965. He also appeared with ''Dixon'' 's star Jack Warner in the 1949 film ''The Blue Lamp'', which was also the film in which the character of PC George Dixon was created. As a writer, Rigby co-wrote the book (with Stanley Lupino), for the musical play ''So This is Love'', which ran for 321 performances at the Winter Garden Theatre in London's West End in 1928.
