East Falkland
East Falkland ( es, Isla Soledad) is the largest island of the Falklands in the South Atlantic, having an area of or 54% of the total area of the Falklands. The island consists of two main land masses, of which the more southerly is known as Lafonia; it is joined by a narrow isthmus where the settlement of Goose Green is located, and it was the scene of the Battle of Goose Green during the Falklands War. The Falkland Islands (; es, Islas Malvinas, link=no ) is an archipelago in the South Atlantic Ocean on the Patagonian Shelf. Mount Usborne
Mount Usborne ( es, Cerro Alberdi) is a mountain on East Falkland. At above sea level, it is the highest point in the Falkland Islands. It is only taller than Mount Adam, the highest peak on West Falkland. The mountain is referenced by Charles Darwin in Chapter 9 of '' Zoology of the Voyage of H.M.S. Beagle''. It is named after Alexander Burns Usborne, master's assistant on , the ship that took Darwin on his famous voyage. As one of the highest mountains of the Falklands, it experienced some glaciation.
