JTR (song)
"JTR" is a song by Dave Matthews Band from their unreleased album, ''The Lillywhite Sessions''. The song originated from "John the Revelator," a song written by Dave Matthews with the help from Carlos Santana. Matthews and Santana wrote "John the Revelator" as a love song about someone calling out to their unattainable lover. The "John the Revelator" lines that originally appeared in the song were suggested by Santana who got the idea from the traditional gospel song of the same name. History "JTR" began as "John the Revelator," which first appeared live as a tease played twice during a show on November 30, 1998. Afterwards, the song was played in full a total five times – twice in acoustic set by Matthews and Tim Reynolds, and three times with the full band and various guests, such as The Lovely Ladies, Béla Fleck, and the band Santana. Dave Matthews Band (also known by the initials DMB) is an American rock band formed in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1991. Busted Stuff
''Busted Stuff'' is the fifth studio album by Dave Matthews Band, released on July 16, 2002 by RCA Records. Produced by Stephen Harris, it was the band's second album not to feature longtime producer Steve Lillywhite. Nine of the album's eleven tracks are re-recorded versions of songs that first appeared on an album the band had abandoned in 2000, a project that had come to be known as ''The Lillywhite Sessions''; "Where Are You Going"—the first single from ''Busted Stuff''—and "You Never Know" were not from ''The Lillywhite Sessions''. Recording Work on the album began in January 2002 at Record Plant Studios in Sausalito, California. The band had been road testing much of the material from the abandoned Steve Lillywhite sessions and felt that these songs deserved a spot on their followup to ''Everyday''. Rashawn Ross (born January 16, 1979) is an American trumpeter and arranger from St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. His contributions in the Dave Matthews Band as a touring member have gained him visibility. Ross is an accomplished session musician. Ross has worked with artists in many different genres of music ranging from funk, rock, jazz, hip hop, gospel and country music. Some of the notable artists whom Ross has supported include Yerba Buena, Soulive, Lettuce, and DJ Quik. Career Ross attended the Berklee College of Music from 1996–2000. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (commonly called Jazz Fest or Jazzfest) is an annual celebration of local music and culture held at the Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans, Louisiana. Stefan Kahil Lessard (born June 4, 1974) is an American musician, best known as the bassist for the Dave Matthews Band. Early life Lessard was born in Anaheim, California, Anaheim, California, to musicians Ron and Jacqueline Lessard. The Lillywhite Sessions
''The Lillywhite Sessions'' (tLWS) is a collection of songs recorded by Dave Matthews Band in 1999 and 2000 and produced by Steve Lillywhite. The songs, recorded by the band as a follow-up to their 1998 album '' Before These Crowded Streets'', were ultimately scrapped by the band's label. Upon being forced by the label to abandon the album-in-progress, Dave Matthews was assigned to work with producer Glen Ballard who, in association with Matthews, wrote the album ''Everyday'' in just ten days. This contrasted with the band's prior style of writing, which included significant collaboration between the band members in the studio. The recordings later emerged on the Internet shortly after the release of ''Everyday,'' and created controversy among fans as well as the music industry, which was early in its campaign to curb illegal file downloads.
