J. Z. George High School
J. Z. George High School is a public middle and high school in North Carrollton, Mississippi. It is a part of the Carroll County School District. It is named after James Z. George. History Circa 1996 the number of students at George High was becoming higher. In 1999 Shirley Lester was the principal. That year there were 307 students, with a portion of them from Black Hawk. In 1999 Vaiden High School in Vaiden consolidated into J. Z. George. The new mascot of the combined school is the Jaguar. The projected consolidated enrollment was 447. In January 1999, to prepare for consolidation, the district began adding seven classrooms, five science laboratories, and other expansion, as well as renovation, totaling $3.5 million. North Carrollton is a town in Carroll County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 473 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenwood, Mississippi micropolitan area. Geography North Carrollton is bordered to the south by the town of Carrollton, the county seat. The two towns are separated by Big Sand Creek, a tributary of the Yalobusha River. Vaiden is a town in Carroll County, Mississippi, United States and its first county seat. The population was 734 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenwood, Mississippi micropolitan area. History Vaiden was founded about 1857 and named after Dr. Cowles Mead Vaiden (04/21/1812 - 02/06/1880), a local doctor, planter, and philanthropist. In the late 1850s, Dr. Vaiden gave the right-of-way through his land for construction of the last span of the Central Railroad, in order to connect the state capital, Jackson, Mississippi, with Memphis, Tennessee. Around the railroad's completion in 1857, the population that had settled at the former Choctaw Indian town of Shongalo was moved to the east, to allow for better access to the railroad. Carroll Academy
Carroll Academy (CA) is a private K-12 school in Carrollton, Mississippi. ''The Atlantic'' identified it as a segregation academy, a school created to thwart racial integration. In 2010 it had no African-American students. The school was established in the ex-Jennie McBride School on August 28, 1969.
